English: Seven Bordeaux Barrel is a very rich Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark as a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into an American oak barrel from a Bordeaux winery. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely complex, full bodied with protruding vanilla, oaky and roasted aromas and flavours. Bitter, dry and smooth on the palate with a long vanilla aftertaste.

Thanks to NoLiberty for cracking this open via Shaun E. Hill... Appears a dark midnight with a fluffy brown cap that sticks around. Streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of red wine character, wood, cocoa, grappa, coffee, and dark chocolate. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with huge red wine flavors, & dark chocolate melding as a gigantic marriage of faith and harmony. Absolutely beautiful. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, with sweet vanilla that lingers with oaky tannins hanging along the palate.

Bottle via Alex (thanks!). Poured a deep and dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roastiness, vinous, chocolate, woodiness, and caramel. Tastes of roast, vinous, chocolate, vanilla, woody, caramel, and had a bitter coffee finish.

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2010 Pitch black with a small beige head that leaves a small ring of lacings. A very complex smell, full of character. Roasted malts, tar, wood, vinous fruits, oak barrel and perhaps a fresh floral note. Hints of vanilla and alcohol. Nice. The taste is not as impressive as the smell, but still very good. Powerful and rich. Hard roasted malts, dry woody notes, oak barrel, chocolate, molasses, vinous grape-like fruity notes. The finish is rather dry and bitter with notes of vanilla, salt licorice and roasted malts. The alcohol is noticeable. Nice balance throughout. Very full-bodied and a thick creamy texture. A very good beer. Complex and aggressive with an interesting barrel character. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

The history of seven brewers making there recipies and dividing it up is great - and must somehow be a totaly disaster - but its not. Its actually works out quite good and the result is nice. Thumps up for brewers who are trying to do something. We like. The pour is pitch black with a thin brown head. The aroma bare clearly strong notes from the barrels which in some sense intensify the alcohol notes. It has a mild sweetness and there is english salmiak laquirice, nuts, coffee, wet ryebread and burned wood. The taste is very round with a bitter and hoppy finish. I taste vanilla, dry figs, roasted nuts and malt and finaly some coffee. The palate is crazy and has a mouthfeel that is crazy like hell. Its creamy with huge lacings. yummi
