English: Seven Bordeaux Barrel is a very rich Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark as a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into an American oak barrel from a Bordeaux winery. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely complex, full bodied with protruding vanilla, oaky and roasted aromas and flavours. Bitter, dry and smooth on the palate with a long vanilla aftertaste.

Thanks Enjoyit for sending this rarity. Black an rich black body with a slight lighter brown head on top. Cocoa and wine aromas emminate. Full mouthfeel, a rich and declicious mix I am getting the fig,the wine barreling, the imperial stout almost takes second seat back to this.

N°1Thick-set, persistent dark cream to tan head over black beer, pouring absolutely viscous. Super-alcoholic nose, utterly filthily rich, with Vanilla, Bourbon, rather sweetish. Dry, alcoholic and yet sweet in taste. Superb balance, and impressive complex character. As said, filthily rich in MF, warming as none. Some R.I.S.! Many thanks to J & C!

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2014 Pours black with a nice espresso brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roastyness, dark fruits, cocoabeans, alcohol, liquorice and wood - this beer really shines. Taste has the same delicious notes with a very nice dry woody end. I was really surprised! Alot better than I expected.

Bottle shared by emacgee - thanks, Ethan! Imperial Stout ennui . . . not here. Nose is rich and deep molasses, with the right touch of sweetness and hints of the barrel presence. Deep oily pour, almost resinous given the lacing. Swirl it in the glass a bit and you get a few more "conventional" oak and vanilla notes in the nose. But the taste is pretty terrific, filled with oaky, tart grape. Dry finish brings together the musty red, cocoa powder, and sharp wood really nicely.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2010 0.375 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Dark roasty aroma with oak, licorice, charcoal and red wine . The flavors of dark chocolate, oak, red wine, coffee and charcoal. Long finish woody finish. Hard oaky and roasty taste with plenty of oak and red wine. Perhaps overoaked but still quite nice sipper.

Huge thanks to Sean Hill. Pours an inky black with some light creeping in. Head is one finger thick creamy and the color of a dark walnut wood. Very vinous nose, dry and oaky, white pepper, vanilla with bourbon notes, lots of barrel character, some bakers chocolate. Flavor is tart and dry, big on oak and vanilla, tannic big time, bakers chocolate with some grain bitterness and lots of dark fruit. Palate is dry and vinous with some oak tannins and some grain bitterness and a mild showing of alcohol. Awesome.
