COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: 1092 bottles of 37,5 cl made.

English: Seven Niepoort Barrel is a very rich imperial stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark by a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into a port wine barrel from our friends at Niepoort. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely full bodied, with rich port like sweetness. The aroma and flavour is dominated by ripe grapes, port, coffee, chocolate and liquorice roast characters. Silky smooth and full palate with a medium sweet, warming and long aftertaste.

Black with a chocolaty brown head. In the nose, coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, toffee, oaky, raisins, figs, vanilla, alcohol. Taste, dark bitter chocolate with a well balanced smoothness, blueberries, dark berries, notes of cherries, and a great long finish of red apples and cream.

Tap @ Ølfestival, Valby, 2009.
Pours utterly opaque black. Impossible to see through. A great, creamy beige, staying head on top. Aroma is sweet, lots of wood, toffee, port, vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate and light liqourice. Super creamy mouthfeel, soooo velvety. Sweetish flavour with lots of roasted malts, port character, chocolate, oak and some super-elegant blueberry notes in the background. This is so elegantly balanced. Lots of power, but still the 12 % is so well hidden. Easily the best beer of the festival! Make more, Nørrebro!

The taste is sweet with a lot of (roasted) malts with chocolate, oak some fruitiness, some vanilla and some wine. Lingering maltiness of dark chocolate malts. Perfect balance and complexity. WOW! UPDATED: AUG 4, 2012 pitch dark, smooth dark brown head. aroma is roasted grains, licorice, faint dark fruits, blended stuff. flavor is licorice, roasted stuff, ends roasted and aftertaset lingers forever. this is one of the got-to-try beers out there, so hurry! won’t last for long. sampled at mikkeller bar about 2011 was oxidized, but okay. sampled once more about late 2011 was as good as original. sampled 2012-8-4- better than the original, aging has mellowed things, wood and barrel is a little bit more in front, so totally balanced, looks and smells like a fresh brew, re-rate to the level the beer has gone to after aging.
