COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Pitch black body with a tiny rust red head. Aroma of sweet, dark malt, roast, coffee and hops. Flavor is complex, sweet and roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, wood and bitter. A wonderful brew with a serious long and warming aftertaste. Great stuff.

(Draught at the brewpub) Poured black. Head was small and light brown. Aroma contained roastedness, ash and alcohol. Palate was full bodied, dry and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were roastedness, liquorice, ash, saltiness, alcohol, bit of sweetness and medium bitterness. Aftertaste was ashy, roasty and bitter.

Draught@CPH BeerFest2010. Quite much pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, some toffee, leather and liquorice. Flavour is quite similar, but the alcohol comes through rather well as a quite stinging note. Otherwise a very pleasant Imperial stout.

Draught. Pitch black coloured. Brown dense head. Dense roasted, smoked and tarry aroma. Has herbs, fruits, liqourice and coffee as well. Flavour also full of roast, smoke and coffee. Has some chocolate, spice and liqourice in it. Very smooth and balanced but with a rough edge. Medium to full bodied. Heavy roasted bitterness in the end with a fine smoky touch. Nice.

Draught at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very black, beige head. Heavily roasty. Dense and heavy bodied. Full flavoured with tobacco and asphalt as well as coffee, grains and licorice. Packed, but non-overpowering imperial stout. Well done!

On tap. Basically black with a small beige head. Aroma is filled with roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and sweet dark fruits. The taste follows suit with big roasted malty flavors, powdery coffee, chocolate and sweet dark fruit aromas. It’s very sweet, but a decent big bitterness develops towards the end as the beer finished with some alcohol and roasted malts. Full-bodied, thick and creamy. Good one. But the barrel aged versions of it are better.

Tab @ CBF. Opaque black pour with a nice small, dense, brown head. Nose has coffee, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, honey, cane sugar, blue berries, figs. Complex nose indeed. The taste is very coffeeish and very birnt, a little hint of blueberries and chocolate, little hops. The taste canøt match the complexity of the aroma. High, fizzy carbonation, medium to large body, medium to high viscosity. Very long duration. Did almost match my expectations, but not quite.
