Black with a lasting, light brown head. Chocolate and roasted malt aroma with some black currant. Dry and strongly roasted flavour. The syrupy black currant flavour is not quite in harmony.

Tap at the brewpub. Pours deep, light muddy black-brown with a small, creamy, beige, film head. Aroma is lightly roasted, some chocolate and a subdued tarty berries notes. Lightish mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Good dryness. Flavour is nice, lots of dark chocolate, subdued cassis in the background. Light roasted. Long aftertaste, light fruit and a very dry, chocolate finish.

Draught @ The brewpub. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Roasted fruity black currant aroma. Sweetish fruity black currant flavor with some hints of chocolate. Sweetish malty fruity finish with some hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours deep brown to black and has an initial dense and mild chocolate brown head which diminishes to a lasting lacework. Aroma is solid blackcurrant mixed with a solid roasted malt aroma and a more tart dark chocolate aroma, quite balanced actually. Soft carbonated mouthfeel. Flavour starts with sweetness in a flavour that holds the blackcurrant and chocolate mixture before a more distinct roasted malt flavour appears. Blackcurrant flavours keep lingering into the finish which gives some acidic lift to the chocolate and roasted notes. Nice and different stout, well done.

faroeviking (10288) - FAROE ISLANDS - DEC 1, 2007
Draught. Pours a pitch black colour with a medium fairly lasting beige head. Sweet aroma of berries, chocolate and roasted malt. Good filling mouth feel. The flavour has a pleasant sweetness with a good roasted maltiness, chocolate, bitter hops and some liquorice. Good fruity stout but a bit too sweet though.

Grovlam (4157) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - DEC 1, 2007
Draught @ Nørrebro. Average light brown and creamy head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Pitch black color. Heavy blackcurrant, wine gum, brown sugar, bubble gum and some strange sweet candies like notes. Aroma of grain and sweet liquorish. Over the palate some roasted malt, hint of coffee and chocolate. Excellent combination of fruity notes and stout. A bit too sweet maybe. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation and thick texture. Heavy sweet flavor with a hint of bitter and acidic. Thick blackcurrant and sweet lingering finish.
