From the bottle dated 2011, pours a lovely straw like hazy gold with a soft white head with good retention. Aroma, pepper, lemongrass, floral & citrus as well. On the palate, soft smooth vanilla like quality as it warmed up. Some resin & bitterness on the finish. Very nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I tried this beer on March 4, 2012 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent light gold colour with a thin white long lasting head. This is the first clear tripel I have seen. Lots of effervescence. The aroma is grainy malt, yeast, spices, and citrus. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is yeast, grains, light apple, spices, and citrus. A mild bitter finish.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow with a short lived head. Aroma has a bit of funk,.lemon grass, yeast, basememt. The flavor follows suit, lemon grass and tropical fruit head line, with bits of funk, yeast and sugar playing around in the back ground. Mouth feel is foamy.

Finally got around to cracking my 3rd bottle of this: Poured a hazed light gold with a large white cap. Pleasing complex aroma - cereals, spice, some floral, fruits, citrus, some funk from belgian yeast. Light bodied, spritzy semi dry character. Flavor is much like the aroma with big biscuity malts balanced by spice and citrus, mid palate complexity with fruits, spice, earthiness. Finishes almost crisp with increased bittering and citrus dominating. Nice brew even if it is over priced.

Pours golden and semi-opaque with a small, white head. On the nose are lemongrass, orange, phenol, cloves, coriander, belgian yeast, hints of esters and some vanilla. Very grassy and floral this one. Mouthfeel is oily with medium carbonation. Taste is very light and refreshing. Orange, lemon, and resinous hops with biscuity malts and a nice yeasty funk. Finish is slightly bitter leaving lemon peel, and citral/grassy hops.

Bottle from LCBO. Pale yellow-golden pour with a tight white head. The aroma has a nice spiciness along with a little bit of soft citrus and a touch of light white pepper. There is an almost tropical lemongrass flavour as well. Fairly prickly, both from carbonation and ethanol. There is a little bit of sweetness that lingers on the palate, but the beer is far from sweet. Zesty and fairly tropical with a lingering spiciness. It’s pretty nice stuff.

Hazy orange/straw, fluffy white head. Aroma is dough, floral, citrus, cheese, alcohol. Classic Belgian style yeastiness. Medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet, caramel and orange/lemon with a softly bitter dry finish. The lemon grass doesn’t really emerge much. I expected a more complicated balance here. It’s good, but pretty standard tripel.

0.6l bottle from LCBO, served in a tulip. Pours a slightly cloudy yellow-orange, with a sparse head that dissipates very quickly. Lots of visible carbonation. Aroma: spicy. cloves, cinnamon. hints of grass, spruce, pine, and some hints of hay. Palate: medium bodied, creamy but slightly oily. slightly dry finish. Slightly astringent. Taste: Very bitter for a tripel. Not as complex as most tripels. Quite disappointing, but still a good drink.

In 600ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy golden orange with essentially no head. Smells sweet with orange and floral notes most prevalent. Light carbonation on the palate, could use a tiny bit more for more interest. Flavour is excellent, a great tripel. Taste is spicy with a bit of citrus, a bit of a sweet mouthfeel, finishes with a tiny bit of bitterness and a bit of an alcohol kick. Quite delicious.

Bottle from LCBO, Feb 2012. Nice head which falls off but never entirely disappears. Nose dominated by spice. Taste leads with spices, finishes with lemongrass and slight hop/alcohol kick. Enough carbonation to give it a refreshing quality along with the lemongrass, helps balance the front loaded spice. A little overly expensive but I blame the LCBO. Would probably buy a couple more bottles but not a must have.
