English: a sour Belgian style brown ale. The base beer was a Belgian Brune, brewed in September 2008 by the Master Brewer Class of 2008/09 at the Scandinavian School of Brewing. The finished beer was then allowed to age for 10 months in a Spanish Tempranillo barrel with multiple strains of Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus, resulting in a pleasantly sour, extremely complex, smooth beer with significant oaky, winey and barnyard flavours. Malt and caramel notes on the palate and a clean, crisp and fruity finish.

Tasting with Shaun Hill at Three Penny Taproom - Poured a darkish amber in color with a small off-white head that hung around to produce a small amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma was roasted malty with fruits (grape, raisin), a hint of red wine and and medium tartness. Flavor is of roasted malts, red wine, sour fruit and berries. Medium sour. Clean, crisp finish. Really good...

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/ruby red color with a beige head. Aroma is of dark fruits, caramel, tartness, barnyard, oak, red grapes and brown sugar. Flavor is lightly sour, but the sourness quickly fades and turns into dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, red grapes, vinous notes and a lot of oak on the back end. The body is medium with a dry mouthfeel. Overall a pretty taste Flemish style Sour Ale.

bottle... medium copper that is bright, a bit of orange amber, a light tan head, good cap and lace... smells incredible but there is so much going on its tough to describe it all, oak, brett,, a sweet backbone that’s creamy and a bit of red wine ... the taste is ligher, thin and muddled but still good, just doesn’t bring the awesome you expected after the nose, finish is a dead... solid but don’t give anything big up for it

Dark brown color; big head, solid. The aroma is very nice, because it’s not only sour components, but also delicate vanilla oak, very light Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. The mouthfeel is smoother than expected; there is caramel flavor, creamy, with fruity and woody notes, light vanilla, moderate sourness. Elegant and pleasant.

Bottle. Over a clear, reddish pale brown body sits a small, off-white head carefully allowing the aromas to let out. It’s quite vinegarish, with some broth, dried fruits and a certain oak aroma. The flavor goes in the same directions, but is more direct and evident, finishing with a touch of metal. It’s dry, full-bodied and with a pleasant level of carbonation. A pleasant one indeed. 110513

Pours dark amber with a diminishing light brown head. Aroma is cherries, brett, lacto, oak, vanilla, caramel, delicious sweetness, some spicy wine barrel notes. A very elegant nose. Taste os nicely sour, cherries, brett, caramel, bread crust, dry oakiness. Not very complex, but very nicely balanced.
