slimchill (656), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 1, 2008 Bottle. Candy, banana, and spice aroma with subtle orange notes. Opaque orange-yellow with a big white head that quickly drops out and disappears. Good hop presence up front with style-appropriate ester character and mild spice. A candy-like sweetness hovers around but is never fully realized, which works well. Spices are slightly muddled which might improve with time. Body is a bit thin, but good carbonation works well. A slight bitterness in the finish lingers on with some citrus notes into the aftertaste.
bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 (22oz bottle, courtesy of travita) Pours a cloudy golden body with a small white head. Aroma of mustiness, plastic, light citrus, floral, and butterscotch. Flavor of sweet malt, butter, herbal tea, florals, and light citrus. travita (762), Lewisville, Texas, USA Aug 19, 2008 Bottle. Yellow to golden in color with not too much head. Smell is butter, oily, fruits, musty. Taste is light fruit, spiced, plastic. Decent but a little off. blutt59 (798), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 8, 2008 bottle, golden color, strong nose of rotting fruits, flavors of apple juice and nuts, finish is buttery smooth AmEricanbrew (1009), Swamp Shreveport, Left Coast, Louisiana, USA Aug 6, 2008 Bottle from the brewpub. Hazy dark gold with a fleeting head. Aroma is tart wheat with some mild spices. Medium body with light carbonation. Nice grainy malt, lightly tart wheat flavors with a hint of clove. Tastes more like a basic wheat ale than a Saison. Decent enough flavor, just not what i’d expect from this style. mar (604), Dallas, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2008 bottle thanks to travita. nice opaque yellow with a ring of white froth. malts, spices and an overall earty scent. that’s quite a peppery beer. very smooth on the palate and a smooth finish actually.
