Beerlando (1158), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours a dark mahogany color, with deep crimson highlights showing when backlit. A large, dense, foamy tan head settles slowly to a wispy film, leaving sticky ribbons and patches of lacing in its wake. The nose is roasty and chocolaty, with notes of iced coffee and light cream. The flavor follows suit. Bittersweet chocolate, roasty coffee, and lactic sweetness come together quite nicely. Medium bodied, with a silky mouthfeel, it goes down pretty smooth. Just a nice, average, highly drinkable porter that won’t knock your socks off, but won’t disappoint, either. drewbeerme (1716), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 2, 2008 22oz bottle, thanks to lb4lb for this one. a slow but sure gusher. pours dark brown with tan head. very over carbonated. aroma is of a chocolately infection. yep pretty infected although somewhat drinkable still. chocolately bandaids. thin body. looks like i’m the only 1 out of 10 with an infected bottle. kramer17801 (1846), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 26, 2008 22 oz bottle, via lb4lb, shared with BA Deuane. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy light brown head that had decent retention. A good bit of sediment noted in bottle. Nice chocolate and roast nose with a certain vinous quality to it. A lot of yeast character showing as well. The flavor is much the same as the nose, with a little cocoa and chalk. A lot of yeast in the flavor as well. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a watery texture and pleasant moderate carbonation. Overall, this was a decent Porter, nothing stand-out but drinkable. miketd (330), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Feb 23, 2008 Thanks to lb4lb for the bottle. Thanks dude! Pour is almost black, but more like dark brown. Pretty nice beige head. Good lacing. Aroma is malty chocolate and roasty malt. Flavor is a bit thin. Chocolate and burnt malt. A bit chalky too. Not bad, but not the best either. dmac (802), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Feb 22, 2008 22 oz bomber thanks to lb4lb, thanks Deniz. Pours a standard looking deep dark brownish/black with a small light beige slightly foamy head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, chalk, cooked vegtables, and rum soaked bread. Medium bodied with average carbonation but a slightly acidic aftertaste. Bittersweet flavor of chocolate, vinegar, bread, roasted malts. Not the best beer but hey I’m not the best rater....a perfect match? I’d prefer something like Julia Styles and me, shes not perfect but hey neither am I and I’m ikay with it!!
