3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 trokini (1025) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 1, 2006I hope this is the right beer, because my bottle had a green label, unlike the one to the left. Anyway, pours cloudy gold with a huge white head. A lot of carbonation. Looks and smells like a tripel, but with apples and some wheat aromas. The taste is the same; sweet with candied sugar and yeast, with a cider bite and hefe-like undertones. Very light, but the apples get more prevalent as the beer warms, to the point of getting a little nauseating. Its worth trying, but I don’t think this will be making a return appearance in my fridge.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - FEB 27, 2006
Maybe it’s because of all the big beers that I was sampling at the Vintage Ale Fest that caused this to seem relatively uninteresting, but it struck me as a light, spritzy golden Belgium ale with no remarkable qualities. Very light and sugary sweet with soft malts and a dash of apples, it had a light yet crisp finish. The strong abv was certainly well masked. Okay.
