bikesandbeers (419), San Diego, California, USA Feb 11, 2008 12oz bottle, from Trader Joe’s I believe the bottle came from trader joes. no date but i believe that this beer was purchased maybe 6 months ago. I also believe that this is A solid irish stout. it poured a super deep brown with a thick tan head that driped over the sides of my stemware. the aroma was roast choclate, and the flavor was more of the same. hints of carmel but not a lot of sweetness. the palate was a bit sticky, but the beer was very soomth. I didn’t notice much of the carbantion mention by other raters, so this much be an older bottle, but it s a good drinable sotu by a good brewery for a good price. sounds like a winner to me.
Homerlikebeer (19), Petaluma, California, USA Aug 1, 2008 Great price at Trader Joe’s in Petaluma, CA!
Dark bownn hue , great aroma and nutty malty flavor. Great w/ meat mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA Jul 6, 2008 Dark brown pour with small diminishing head. Weak aroma of burnt malt. Flavor mirrors the aroma- some burnt notes with nuttiness. Metal in the finish. Mouthfeel is much thicker than expected though. Apparently, no one can better old Arthur Guinness. Dickinsonbeer (2550), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Porus a deep browht with a thin light head. Aroma is light roasted barley and chocoolate nuttiness, but also has a strange off artificial sweetness. Flavor alsohas that sacharin sweetness, with some dry nutty chocolate malts- finishes a bit metallic- with a dry and dusty mouthfeel. I wasnt crazy about this one. larryLSB (17), La Selva Beach, California, USA Jun 1, 2008 Out of a bottle, from Trader Joe’s. Poured a beautiful dark, deep brown with a hint of red, nice frothy good sized dark tan head. Strong coffee taste, with a hint of chocolate. Smell reminded me more of chocolate than coffee though. Nice dry finish. Best buy at that price. Rciesla (871), Brick City, New Jersey, USA May 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black body with some ruby hues and a delicate tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt, and some roastiness. Light bodied stout with a mouth drying finish. Just an easy low abv stout here.
