Malted wheat and the choicest American barley are combined with a blend of noble hops to create this light, fruity, refreshing beer. Brewed in the style of the American beer renaissance, Blue Star is unfiltered, the yeast adding a complex note to the flavor profile. Its especially good with a slice of lemon!

"refreshing brew, and i agree that there is a disctinct lack of "straw aftertaste", but other than that, its just ok. NC makes some GREAT beers, but this aint one of em."

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a fair head that fades to nominal lacing. Aroma of citrus, wheat and bit of fruit. Taste of wheat, bit of citrus and fruit sweetness. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Light body, clean with an easy citrus feel. Nice beer but fairly common for the style.

355ml bottle. Pours out a light golden shade with white head. Opens up grainy before a nice combination of fruit (peach, apricot), grassy hops and caramel malt comes through. Taste is fine, grainy and grassy again, but not quite as nice as the aroma. Light banana note. Good wheat beer.

Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance The beer is served a hazy yellow-orange color with a tiny fizzy white head. The head has a very light level of retention, fading quite fast to leave some decent foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell The aroma of the beer heaviest of a wheaty bread smell mixed with some hints of citrus of lemon and a bit of orange. Taste The taste begins with a crisp wheat flavor mixed with a light citrus lemon flavor. As the taste advances the wheatiness takes on a grainier like nature with the lemon growing stronger as the flavor advances as well. Some yeast and a bit of hay and grass work their way onto the tongue more toward the end of the taste, mixing with the rest of the flavors to leave a crisp, wheaty and lightly citrus flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel The body of the beer is on the average side to slightly thicker side for a brew of only 4.5 % abv. with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the style the feel is very nice as the high carbonation really makes for a refreshing and crisp drinker, while the average to slightly thicker body really nicely accentuates the wheat flavors. Overall A rather crisp, refreshing, and easy drinking wheat beer with a good blend of citrus and wheat. A nice summer style brew.

Bottle. Pours a golden yellow color with so-so head little retention, okay lacing. Nose is faint orange peel, cereal. Bland and weak with a vegetal note at the finish. Not good.
