faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Oct 25, 2008 Botella. Unclear deep red-brown colour. Aroma of spices, alcohol and dark malts. Quite good a mouthfeel. Sweet flavour of weel toasted malt with spices, caramel and pleasant bitter hops. Goes great while playing Nothingface. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 23, 2008 Bottle: Pours a dark reddish brown with a nice amount of head. The aroma is strong malts, dried fruit, chocolate, and tea. The flavor was very good and well balanced. It had flavors of sugar, malts, raisins, dried peaches, and chocolate. Overall a great great beer from North Coast and one that goes to a good cause. I like to drink for a good cause. durhambeer (1188), Durham, USA Oct 19, 2008 Finally tried this one, and perhaps I should actually pick up a bottle. Any bottle that features Thelonious Monk should be purchased out of principle. Dark clear brown pour with a generous off white head. Malty Belgian sugar, mulled apple spice and other various fall fruits. Good, if a little sweet. jcdsmack (88), Henderson, Nevada, USA Oct 17, 2008 pours a nice brown tan head rich sweet malt character prune dates and other dried fruit flavors aswell as chocolate nice palate good aroma. I lean more toward the hophead pale ales but do enjoy the change of pace a nice belgian dubble or abbey provides and this one does the trick great flavors and aromas warms the soul good stuff. Doesn’t hurt that it supports a cause. PMgep (71), Lund, Sweden Oct 17, 2008 [330 ml bottle from Systembolaget] Nice amber colour, but not so much foam. The flavour is of malt, caramel, spices and jazz. ogivlado (3036), Zagreb, Croatia Oct 16, 2008 Bottled(355ml). -Amber ruby coloured, medium sized pale brown head, sweet and light spicy malty alcoholic nose. Sweet malty, spicy and mild caramel taste with notes of almonds. Touch of chocolate pleasant spicy finish. Well balanced beer. 9.4% surffisher (194), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Oct 13, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours hazy copper-brown with a pretty, frothy yellow-tan head that fizzes out to a thin cover in short order. Clears nicely upon warming. Aroma is fruity and sweet, with lots of molasses, plum, and wood/bourbon. Flavor is brown sugar/dark fruit sweet with some tangy yeast and a dry finish. Smooth, with moderate prickly carbonation. Medium full bodied and warming, with a slight burn. I wouldn’t put this up with the very best Belgian versions, but it is still quite nice and a good sipper. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 13, 2008 Pours brown with ruby highlights. About a half inch of head on the pour, but it is quickly gone afterwards. Smell is very nice. Very plump, juicy dark fruit. Some ripe dark grapes, plum. There is a lot of yeast flavor in the first sip. Dominates most of the promising notes that are in the smell. Good amount of carbonation and lively bite in the mouthfeel. Easy drinking, but unfortunately more complex in the nose than in the taste.
