| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2008 Poured a nice clear copper color with little to no head. Aroma was yeast malt and dark fruit, plums and cherries.
Flavor was interesting, almost like a slightly overcooked cherry cobbler, a little burned, a lot sweet, and a bit caramely. A lot going on here, and the 9% is well hidden. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Pours a beautiful rusty copper with a medium tan head that rings the glass. Very sweet caramelized pineapple nose with some Belgian yeast. The taste is also sweet and fruity at the beginning tasting like overripe cherries or plums, but takes on a more bread like abbey finish. Very smooth and creamy body with no hint of the 9% ABV. Pretty enjoyable, couldn’t help turn on some jazz while drinking! Goodgrief (1149), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Ruby red/brown pour, with minimal head and some lacing. A burned aroma left me feeling this was some sort of Belgian Scottish Ale (if that makes any sense at all). A taste confirms....really sweet, malt profile similar to a scottish ale... a fruity malt flavor with cherries. Kinda too sweet, but not horrible. A moderate to high level of carbonation. Okay. brokephibroke (140), Mead, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 17, 2008 Nice, thick brown / red pour, coffee froth. Nice malty straight forward nose. Molasssas, alcohol taste with a bitter / metallic linger. Great smooth palate, overall a nice beer! MrManning (1642), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Bottle courtesy of HogtownHarry. Deep mahogany pour unleashed a beige foam that left minute lacing. Nose was bready, had pit fruits and tobacco with essences of yeast and caramel malts. Slightly smokey flavour profile was elevated with sweet molasses and caramel, tobacco and yeasty, bready crust like earthy flavours. Good beer. Thanks Harry! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Updated: Dec 3, 2008750 ml bottle.I remember I used to see this bottle every time I walked in to a local distributor, and used to think the label was some sort of cheap gimmick. After seeing it in a bar a while back and actually reading the label I was very pleased to see that the label was no gimmick and that a percentage of proceeds go to a good cause. It poured a mahogany brown, with no head. the nose was belgian yeasts and lots of fruits, some citrus some prunes. Very nicely carbonated with similar flavors to the nose. The finish had a slight acidy-alcohol type bite to it. It also tasted a bit raw, maybe aging would help, but overall a nice american belgian style beer.
