Bubble gum and dark fruit in the nose, fairly nice, but could have more depth. Flavor has hints of honey covered fruits, decent belgian character and a decent finish. It’s an ok Belgian style beer, better than most American interpretations. phishpond417 (1935), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Pours an amber or somewhat reddish body. Caramel malts and definately sweet tasting. Very little hops. Nice medium sized head, with aromas of syrup. I thought it would be better than it was for the price. But truthfully, I was a little dissapointed. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Poured this into a goblet. Poured a dark amber color with decent head that dissipated rather rapidly. The aroma is malty with a touch of fruit at the end. Flavor is of dark fruit with a bit of alcohol in the taste. Mouthfeel is good. Drinkability is good, but the alcohol is a bit too present in the flavor.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Deep orange copper color, not much head. Flavor is warm malt, yeasty bread, some banana, and caramel sugar. Some dark ripe fruit notes as well. Medium bodied. Smooth on the palate. A bit of alcohol burn at the end. For an American brewed Belgian style this is pretty good. I would only hope that with Thelonius Monk on the label, that we wouldn’t let him down. Tripplebrew (493), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA

A pretty good/rich belgian abbey. sverhage (4), California, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2008 Nice aromas. Dark sugar flavor. Decent color. Very pleasant. For $7.99 could either buy a real Belgian or settle for a Trader Joe’s anniversary brew from Unibroue. hombrepalo (762), Chicago, Illinois, USA
