3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: OCT 29, 2012 I think I’m in the my minority but I didn’t really care for this one despite my relatively high rating. A beautiful dark amber color pour and I was hoping for the best... The intial taste was above average but I really did not care for the kind of sour/yeasty after taste. Reminded me a little of an IPA which I’m not fond of and probably won’t turn down but won’t seek out. OK>>>I rerated this...much better than I rated earlier. I’ve tried it twice since my first pour and i have admit I was wrong...really, really good brew!

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Tastes reminds me of Jaeger unfortunately. Liquorice, raisin, very alcoholic taste. Really not that special sadly. Light in terms of weight. Maybe I just don’t like Belgian style abbey ales or Belgian strong ales if that’s what it really is. This is my first of the four pack so we’ll if it grows on me.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wow impressed by the complexity of the taste in this beer. Pour is a beautiful amber with a small head. Flavor is tangy but appropriate for this kind of beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber-reddish color with small white head. Aroma is prunes, chocolate, a bit nutty. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, a bit booze. Okay complexity, could be a bit more edgy. Smooth carbonation. Not bad!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Deep abbey style beer with a nutty brown complexion and a serious punch. 9.4% alcohol per volume hits you pretty hard after a couple. Smooth flavor that lends itself to enjoying slowly. There is a fruity aftertaste which is almost raisin like but also hart a bit of a tart taste like a cranberry. It's hard to explain but will make sense when you try this beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A chestnut brown, a head is big and beige. Aroma has richness of fruits, raisins and dates, also some red berries and spices. Taste has dried fruits, prunes and dates, hint of power of alcohol. Medium+ bodied, pleasand and smooth palate. Almost 10 months old, now nicely smooth and balanced, could be more complex. Dried fruits in the liquid format.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Bierstube. Clear dark copper brown pour with no head. Minimal carbonation. (Note: This was a re-dip into a keg opened previously for Philly beer week so that may have altered the appearance/taste.) Sweet juicy dark red fruit and caramel. Black cherries. Carob. Dates. Raisins. Plantains. Molasses candies. Spicy notes of cinnamon, clove and black pepper. Mostly sweet, but finishes fairly dry. Need to taste this again from a fresh keg.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Candia Road Convenience in Candia, NH. Aroma is moderately strong mix of fruity esters, bready malts, doughy yeast, and alcohol. Apperance is clear, dark ruby red brown with mild sparkle and 1/2 finger width off white foamy head that dissipates to thin ring and minimal lacing. Taste is moderately sweet for first 75% with mild bitter last 25% Palate is medium bodied with a slippery feel to it (almost like your tongue gets coated with silicone spray) with lively, quick sting of carbonation at tip of the tongue. Overall, a nice, solid beer all around.
