Commercial Description:
Originally brewed for Whole Foods. Belgian yeasts are legendary for the fruity flavor and floral bouquet they give beer. Hundreds are used by Belgian brewers and each is unique. Cru d'Or, a Belgian Style Abbey Ale is an homage to this magic ingredient and the result is a world class beer that is lush and profoundly aromatic with a warming finish. Being organic, Cru d'Or is brewed with the same reverence for pure ingredients as the Abbey and Farmhouse Belgian ales of the past. Delicious.

Weak combination of body odor and caramel on the nose. Cloudy ochre and thin yellow head. Tastefully sweet candied cherry and fig. Marshmallow finish. Nicely done. A good dessert beer?

Dark amber color with a mid sized head. Aroma of cocoa, dark fruits and some caramel. Raisins and plums are accompanied by a light peppercorn spice. Moderately sweet, with some earthy flavors present as well. Has some nice flavors upfront, but falls a little short in the finish.

Darker amber colored. Aroma has that organic feel to it, yet very obviously Belgian. Caramel, fruit, sugar, yeast in aroma and flavor. Medium bodied, quite sweet.

12 ounce bottle from By The Bottle in Vancouver, Washington--Pours a deep amber body with a creamy yet small tan head. Yeasty, dark fruits and bubblegun in the nose. Mild nuttiness and alcohol heat. Taste is bright and crisp with lots of fruitiness midway through. Finished a little dry and thin, but with some lingering raisin and tobacco. Spicy like a cola, but warm and rich like a Belgian brew should be.

Deep ruby red color, clear with small, quickly dissipating head with a thin foam layer remaining. Weak aroma of dried fruit. The flavor was a nice blend of dark fruits, belgiany spices with maybe a hint of vanilla. This wasn’t a bad beer, didn’t fall into the familiar overly sugar sweet trappings. Not bad at all.

Labeled as North Coast Cru D’or. Pours with a thick, but small, light brown head that reverts to a strong ring. Aroma of berries, yeast, and a bit of nail polish. Taste is alcohol, candied sugar, yeast, and some maltiness. Fizzy.

Pours a deep amber color with a nice foamy off white head. Aroma is dark fruits, yeast with some banana and cloves. This is a pretty good tasting beer but something just seems a tad off. Somewhat spicy and fruity (darker fruits such as plums). The middle to the finish of the beer is quite bland though then a sour finish but it’s not at all alcoholic. The aftertaste is a bit flat. The beer really does taste a little like the Diet Coke of beers. Overall, good, and the more you let it warm the more spice you get.

Bottle. Deep orange-brown in color. Limited, rimmed head. Yeasty, banana, pineapple, doughy and breadlike. Similar delivery in flavoring though very little distinctive beyond aroma. Bready, lemony, dry finish. Nice - not much more.
