Aged about 9 months in my fridge. Clear and golden with lots of soapy/soda pop bubbles. Quite carbonated and prickly on the tongue. Yeasty, fruity, funky. Banana, barnyard, peppery, toasty grain. Fairly bitter finish. A very interesting and complicated beer, but an odd combination of flavors.

On tap at Sheffield’s. Pours a mostly clear, orange-gold colored body with an inch thick, creamy and foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is very fruity with lots of yeasty esters. Pears, pineapple and lemon citrus, some tropical fruits, and apricots. Somewhat woody with clove spice, lightly sweetened grainy wheats, and a light hay. Flavor is similar. Yeasty up front with lots of estery fruits, a light pepper, slightly sweet wheats, clove, hay, and grains. Finishes dry, slightly tart, and somewhat acidic with lots of citrus, yeast, and a light spicy bitterness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a somewhat thin, slightly creamy body with a lively carbonation. Overall, not a bad saison. Lots of fruity esters with a light malt sweetness and a solid yeasty spice.

Tap at taphoose! Pours hazy straw yellow with decent white head and lace. Belgian funk, spicy, hoppy it’s there. Tastewise nothing too funky, belgian pale with a light saison character and a generous amount of spice and hops. Med Light body, fizzy carbonation. Silky light finish, bitterness and yeast character lingering.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spelt (206) - East Kingston, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Hazy straw colored beer with fizzy white head that drops to a film. Aroma is typical Belgian yeast funk but not too heavy. Also has some scent of a sweet pastry or Easter bread. Strong floral hops in nose too. Taste is notably bitter up front and then relaxes to a warming malty character. Nice long finish. Fizzy prickly mouth feel on a medium body. Very enjoyable, not too overpowering for the style.
