Bottle@DRbM. Bourbon aroma. Opaque, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, chocolate, hoppy, bourbon, cacao. Wonderful balance. What else is there to say. Except maybe that Iím not afraid to rate our competition high ;-) Itís all about good beer, not profit.

Imperial stout with decent bourbon flavor. It has more chocolate and less coffee than great lakes black out stout. Itís a little on the syrupy side. Tasted on 12/20/2013. Got it for $22 for 1 pint

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
500cl (XVI) bottle shared in a Trappist glass. Pours black with a surprisingly whitish head (hence the slightly less than perfect score - I like a nice brown head) which persists admirably throughout the session. Aroma is pure Bourbon Barrel and reminiscent of Bourbon County (still my reference) which is high, high praise. Taste is extremely smooth and easy drinking which considering its ABV is unbelievable. Less complex than Bourbon County but so delicious that I just accept it for what it is rather than compare the two. Charred oak, smoke, bourbon, chocolate and malt combine in perfect proportion and tastes of pure Christmas to me. In fact I shall buy some more bottles for Christmas time and open when I fancy,
Truly worthy of its reputation and further proof that the American Imperial stouts are a force to be reckoned with.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in late 2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, dark bread, vanilla, toast, toffee, bourbon, oak, light raisin/plum, and roast/oaky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla, toffee, toast, bourbon, oak, dark bread, light raisin/plum, and roast/oaky earthiness. Light roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, vanilla, toffee, toast, bourbon, oak, dark bread, light raisin/plum, and roast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very creamy, smooth, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged imperial stout. All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

From a bottle. Pours almost black with a fizzy light brown head. Tastes like bitter coffee, booze, raisins, smooth but bitter and slightly astringent. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet raisins, nutty, light bitterness, booze.
