COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer.

This entry is for all anniversary Bourbon BA Old Rasputin releases.

Bottle, pours a dark black, aroma was strong of bourbon and the finish was rpugh around the edges from the barrels, I didn’t get too much of the nice roastiness from the old rasp, thanks for the share, definitely need to try this one again

Pours opaque dark brown with a small brown head with good lacing. Nose is cream, coffee and chocolate, vanilla, charcoal, olive and figs. There is a bit of floral hops. Flavor is slightly sweet verging to a bitter finish. Long bitter finish, alcohol in chest, a little chalky. Full bodied. Very good.

2013-02-22 - tasting hosted by blankboy, with gregclow, jercraigs and mabel - 500ml bottle c/o blankboy via glouglouburp. Black pour, smallish creamy light brown rocky head. Aroma - bourbon, alcohol, soy sauce - like chocolate fudge, creamy - good. Taste - even MORE bourbon! - like a mocha cake with added bourbon and a bit of kirsch thrown in ’cuz why not - boozy. Slick, airy, alcoholic, cloying finish ... yeah yeah yeah, well made, yadda yadda yadda - ENOUGH with the bourbon barrel aging - can you bastards just please make BEER from now on? Jeez.

Pretty darn good, but can’t see this being a regular tipple - the price just doesn’t justify the quality.

Poured from bottle to snifter. Deep dark hue with brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, oak, figs, raisins, chocolate, toffee, molasses, coffee, raisins. Mouthfeel is fantastic with medium body and soft carbonation. Taste is sweet throughout with a really nice astringentness in the following and finishing with wood tannins and ethanol. Overall a fantastic brew!

A black body supports a tall smooth medium khaki head with solid durability leaving splotchy erratic lace all around

Whiskey and dried fruit tango over a bold barrel base offering coconut, marshmallow, pie crust, and chocolate syrup, all on a silky, comfortably carbonated medium body coating and drying with smokey tannic accents and toffee cookies

Pours a thick black with a tan/brown head. Nose is strongly of bourbon with a note of cocoa. Taste starts with a hint of cocoa but is overall dominated by bourbon though it’s not overly boozy. Finishes with just a bit of a boozy bourbon flavor. I really enjoyed this beer. It didn’t taste as strong as an 11.3%. I wouldn’t have this if you don’t like bourbon but don’t let the bourbon scare you away from it either.

Sample size at an awesome bottle share. Pours pretty clear for as dark as it was, with touches of soapy lace. Nose involves lots of oaky, woody notes, with some toast and chocolate. Pretty sweet, also pretty bitter, making it fairly drinkable at its size. Medium bodied, soft carb, oily, with a long oaky finish. Bourbon presence was not large, more oak came through than anything. Would have been better to try this before having my palate destroyed by ancho and guajillo peppers. Still, somewhat difficult to justify the upcharge considering how good the original Old Raspy is. Fun to try, definitely.

XVI. Pours dark black. Little bourbon and a lot of chocolate on the nose. Pretty similar on the tongue. Little vanilla in there too. Really delicious. First experience with this beer. Have one more bottle I'm going to cellar till next years comes out.
