COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seems hard to believe that we’ve been making Old Rasputin for 10 years now, but that’s what’s happened. And, to celebrate the occasion, we’ve brewed a special small batch that’s been aged for 9 months in some 12 year-old bourbon barrels. It’s bottled in 500 ml bottles with a cork and wired finish and a special commemorative label ---- and it’s amazing. The depth, intensity and complexity of the flavor profile make it a worthy tribute to this fine beer.

The barrel aging has certainly mellowed this beer. It smelled stronger of liquor than the original, but the color and taste were not as overwhelming. Better than the original, but pricey.

Avnjutes med Rasputin-Lover Måns Nilermark. Söt, vanilj, ek, kanske lite cocosboll?! Rätt välbalanserad med ett överhängande sting.

XV Bottle from Bottle Caps Daytona. Black with a resilient, creamy tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrel, molasses, coffee, and roasted malt. The flavor is really roasty and somewhat bitter. Lots of barrel and dark chocolate flavor with mild sweetness. Medium-full bodied and slick with well hidden alcohol despite the tingle on the tongue. Nice stuff.

Version XV on tap at Easy Tiger in Austin on Memorial Day 2013. Pours black with thick head in a wine glass. Aroma is big vanilla and black licorice. Flavor is very bourbon forward with subtle vanilla notes. Some of the beautiful roasty, chocolatey goodness seems to be lost from the tegular version, and the mouthfeel was thinner than expected. Whiskey is slightly harsh and this might need a little age. Overall a solid BA stout, but outside of the aroma, not nearly was I was expecting.

About six months old, pours black with a big red brown head, fades fairly quick. Aroma is lots of booze, tons of bourbon, vanilla and oak are strong as well. Taste is lots of sweet milk chocolate and dark chocolate, tons of bourbon and vanilla, sweet almost cloying, this is a good brew but it is difficult to drink much of it.

Dark brown, coffee color, tan head that fizzles away. Bubbles from the surprisingly high carbonation. Nose is bourbon, raisin, figs, vanilla. Taste is bourbon, vanilla, raisins, a touch of prunes but nothing too extreme, some chocolate. Palate is pretty thin.
