TheCaptain (526), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 26, 2009 Bottle- Pours very dark with tan head and some lacing. Oily with a roasted coffee, sugars and some dark fruits. Good blend of ABV with some dark roast bitterness throughout. Better as it warms up, flavorful russian imperial. justinehrlich (18), New York, USA Jul 26, 2009 One of my favorite stouts. Pours near black with a small, medium brown head. Aroma is mostly chocolate with a hint of coffee and alcohol. Flavor is mostly chocolate with a slight coffee aftertaste. Despite the 9% ABV, it’s hard to taste the alcohol here. Feels thick and creamy in the mouth, in a good way. tturner (103), , Washington, USA Jul 25, 2009 very complex, changes dramatically as it warms. Bittersweet chocolate and coffee. subtle molasses. a subtle tang on the finish helps differentiate this IRS. Bstclai (1), Arkansas, USA does not count Jul 21, 2009 Thick and rich. The very noticeable chocolate and coffee flavors are quickly balanced by a hops that leave a lengthy pleasant after taste. North coast brewery does it again. ON TAP IS IT BETTER - Creamier with a thicker head 3Faveryrogue (80), Asslip, Illinois, USA Jul 20, 2009 Another staple in the bang for your buck category. Great style, great brew, great price. Can hold up with the best of em. Nice pour, frothy tan head. Chocolate, hop, roast, licorice, coffee all around, and a slight woodiness in taste. Dry bitter roast finish. Better as warms. Quevillon (1518), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Jul 19, 2009 Bu en fut (14 oz) au Deep Ellum, le 12 jullet 2009. Pure noir, bon collet beige. Arome de café mocha malté, céréal gronolas. Goût de cafe crème, céréal malté, finisson café amère avec aucune sensation d’alcool. Une bonne impérial sans être extrème! beernovice39 (240), South Carolina, USA Jul 17, 2009 Great beer is all I can say. Not sure if its as good as Storm King. Need a side by side comparison. arminjewell (100), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 17, 2009 Poured obsidian black with deep lasting tan head, smelled of chocolate and coffee, some alcohol. Thick on the palate, with a large coffee/chocolate rush at the forefront and balanced out well by the hop’s bitterness. No alcohol present in the taste, and overall an excellent impy stout.
