COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Very dark, motor oil like pour with a red tinted head. Aromas are strong: lots of chocolate, coffee, a touch of vanilla, and hops. Very intense, complex flavors. Rich and silky, with coffee like roastiness, chocolate, smoke and bitter hops. Long, long finish. A truely fine example of the style.

this stuff is extremely complex, very dark and very heavy beer, maybe even more heavy than a guinness extra stout very coffee like. rough to drink more than one of this beer. amazing bottle to collect though

Midnight brown, near black in color. Frothy, shallow and quickly dissipating tan head, leaving nice lacing tracts in its wake. Looks somewhat thin based on pour from the bottle. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, hint of roasted malts and a dash of molasses. Flavor expresses itself as a lingering rich chocolate espresso taste blast. Excellent bitterness overriding the chocolate and roasted malts. Full-bodied and thicker on the palate than expected. Finish is dry bitterness, like downing a double shot of espresso. A fine imperial stout.

Black with a dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and some roasted notes. Some alcohol is noticable in the aroma. Flavor is chocolate and coffee complimented by a burnt roast. Heavily malted and has an oily mouthfeel. Finishes with a warming alcohol sensation. This beer gets better as it warms.

Fantastic stout that any Imperial fan will enjoy. More drinkable than Stone’s (my benchmark of Imperial Russian Stouts) with less hops and alcohol. Just slightly lacking in complexity by comparison. Sweet, burnt smell of a typical Imperial, with noticable alcohol (though not as pronounced as Stone’s). Lots of coffee and malt, but doesn’t overdo it like many stouts. Priced well at $6.99 for a 4-pack.
