UPDATED: MAY 10, 2010 Little carbonation.Dark brown mohagany with a dark tan layer of foam.
Nose is awesome.dark fruits ,Coffee and chocolate.I can imagine this as a wild dessert or after dinner apertif’.Port.Flavor is just as I was hoping. The roasted malts and chocolate are at the forefront but the espresso and dark fruits are so well blended in here that there isn’t a dominate taste.Thick and delicious.

Bottle. Deepest black with ruby hints when placed in front of a light. Nice brown head. Lacing is good. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Fruity notes also. Smooth mouthfeel, chocolate grainy taste with coffee included. Hops blend in the middle and predominate towards the finish. Very well done, nicely balance. Alcohol hidden well.

Poured black - no light is getting through this one - and had a nice brown head that disappeared as quickly as it had developed. Aroma is chocolate. Taste was chocolate and coffee, with a dry espresso finish. Alcohol was present, but this was a dangerously easy drinking stout. Great stuff.

Bloody brilliant! I’ve tried to compare this to the Stone sister brew and this one comes up on top. Nice balance and thick as a milkshake. Dark as my soul and amazing dark chocolate/coffee aroma. This one truly is more like eating a big, beautiful dense loaf of dark, sweet bread. Amazing, amazing, amazing!!!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2006 Bottle: Aroma is a combination of fruit, sweet chocolate, black licorice, and alcohol. Pours a dark brown, virtually black, with a small tan head that lasts a minute or so. Quck initial creamy malt flavor then coffee and chocolate are quickly added in the finish. Alcohol presence is not all that strong, just barely sneaks thru. It increases as you drink, and gets to the point where it’s slihgtly overpowering. Moderately strong mocha and coffee aftertaste that is short lived.

Deep dark brown. Vineous, fruity nose with notes of cocoa. Flavour is big malty, starts off fruity, then finishes with a big but balanced bitterness. Cocoa is very evident all along. Low alhpa hops in large quantities. Very quaffable.

Smells of coffee and baker’s chocolate. Pours out dark in color with a thick tan head. A nice lacing adds a little something special. Tastes heavily of chocolate and coffee. Excelllent mouthfeel. Light alcohol finish. A really excellent imperial.
