Sep 19, 2008 Black, nice firm espresso head. Nice dark chocolate nose, little liquorice ice cream and woodyness. Smoothly burned, little dried fruity and smoky flavor, chocolate and coffee, followed with menthol and wood. Nicely balanced, smooth Impy. Served too cold though..

Sep 18, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a thick tan head. The head seems to stick around awhile unlike some other stouts where the head disappears after a minute. Taste of chocolate and coffee. As other raters have mentioned the ABV of 9% is noticable. Great beer.

Sep 16, 2008 Pours a dark black with a thin tan head. Weak aroma of roasted chocolate and coffee malsts. Flavor is caramel and toffee sweetness up front that fades into a slight coffee finish. High ABV is very noticeable.Oily and a bit thin in the mouth. A nice beer, but a bit overrated IMHO.

Sep 16, 2008 Beautiful pour, black, thick persistent head and lacing. Aroma of earth and some dried fruit, prunes or raisins. Thick malty start with a lightly hoppy alcoholic finish. Some caramel or chocolate snuck in there as well. A serious brew, stellar.

Sep 14, 2008 On tap at Flying Saucer... pours dard brown, tannish head. Aroma of sweet malts, dark fruis, alcohol. Flavor is creamy, burnt malts and coffee. Good imperial stout.

Sep 14, 2008 I finally can add this rating to my collection. I tasted this about a month and a half ago and lost my rating sheet. But I finally found it....so here it is!
Pours with a very dark, brown almost black hue with a light brown/ tan head. Aroma is of raisins, other dark fruits, coffee, some chocolate, and definitely some molasses.
The beer has a very strong chocolate taste with some alcohol in the finish.
Syrupy mouthfeel, with lively carbonation. A great stout and a great choice by bman1113vr before he left to go back home. Truly enjoyable, and I will definitely be looking for this one again!

Sep 13, 2008 pours a very dark brown with a thick tan head. dusty roast malt aroma. Chocolate, molasses/burnt toffee tones. Light raisin fruitiness.
Flavour is burnt malt bitterness, coffee and chocolate tones.

Sep 12, 2008 Bottle. Large head with a nice black color. Aroma includes roasted grain, molasses, wine, vanilla, brown sugar, and even a bit of date. Full body with a slick texture and lively palate. Long taste. Probably the best stout I have tasted.
