Pours a near pitch black color with a big thick head that lingers a bit. Aroma is deep roasted malt, smoke, coffee, chocolate and some light fruitiness. Very intense taste. Big roasty and smokey beer with hints of chocolate. Smokiness is a bit much for my liking. Finish has a strong bitterness and a pretty high carbonation for an Imperial Stout. A light fruitiness and spicy character comes through in the finish too. This beer has a nice intense complexity but its a bit smokey, a tad thin, and too much carbonation for me. I prefer my Imperial Stouts to be smoother and softer.

Bottle @ The Rover. Served way too cold. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of juniper berries, milk chocolate, roasted malt, wood. Taste of caramel, chocolate, licorice. Just a little bit sweet, ends with a long aftertaste of bitterness.

Large toasted brown head when poured, coffee aromas and taste, just the right amount of carbonation, pleasant lingering aftertaste

Big (4fingers) tan head on a lovely dark brew. Aroma of wheat alcohol and darkness. Tastes of soy sauce, raisins, bitter coffee, and booze. A bit sweet-sticky mouthfeel. Low carb. A great beer to sip slowly while contemplating nuclear fusion.

Not a favorite. A bit too rich and too much bite. I like stouts a little sweeter and smokier. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft at Yard House (Raleigh) Pours a dark brown with half inch beige head (very pretty). Mild aroma. Rich coffee taste. Pleasant aftertaste. Overall, very very nice stout that I'll gladly look for and get again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Top notch and never disappointing. Roasted malts and coffee aroma with a lot more going on. Very dark color with a great off-white head. Creamy palate with good weight and just enough carbonation that doesn’t distract. A swarm of flavors hit you at first sip. Roasted malts, toffee and coffee. Great to have at the end of the day.

Classic imperial stout. Pours jet black. Smells like chocolate and coffee. Taste is the same, adding malts and maybe some toffee. You can taste the alcohol, this is a strong one. Very intense. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours black coffee brown with a nice brown sugar colored head. Fruity aroma with a hint of chocolate. The flavor is a blend of malt, coffee and bittersweet chocolate, with a hint of sweet caramel. Rich creamy body, and a bold smokey espresso finish followed by a nice warming effect. This brew is everything I want in a stout; bold, creamy, and potent 9% ABV.
