Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Strong coffee/chocolate notes immediately released upon the pour. Resin-like hop aroma. Black, like the oil in my truck after about 6,000 miles. Head which settles rapidly. Hints of lacing hug the edge of the glass. Medium bitter taste with a rather full body. Thick, semi-oily texture with a soft to average carbonation. Bitter finish that proves substantially prolonging.

12 Oz bottle. Pours black with a huge brown head that lingers leaving lots of lacing. Aimed of coffee, vanilla, molasses, and some smoke. Flavor starts medium sweet, then quickly goes through a lot of flavors, coffee, and dark fruit, ending on potent, bitter roasted malt and alcohol. Full body with a sticky mouthfeel and mild carbonation. Overall, a lot to like in this beer. Complex aroma and flavor profile, but linger isn’t as pleasant.

Poured dark brown with ruby highlights. Tastes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate; There are hints of vanilla, licorice, grain and dark fruits. It’s a warmer. One of the best, get it, if you can.

Svart med høyt lys brunt skum. Espresso, lakris, mørk sjokolade og kakaolukt. Salt lakris og bitter sjokolade, kakaosmak. Bitter kort, noe søtlig ettersmak. Lite kullsyre.

Bottle from Biervana, Munich. Pours black. Head brown, bigger than expected stays to the end. In aroma chocolate, coffee. Taste is continuation of aroma, chocolate and coffee. Finish very long with alcohol and bitterness. On the halfway my lips started to stick to the glass. I would definitely recommend and can’t wait to try it again.

On tap at Lions Pub. Pours extremely dark with lovely mocha head. Coffee and chocolate on the nose. Big chocolate and espresso taste. Very well balanced and the alcohol level of this stout is hidden nicely. NIce viscous mouthfeel with a slight sweet finish. Perfect winter beer.

Pours as good as black, with a very nice , mocha head . Smell is cofee-inspired dark malts . Bit chocolaty (hidden ) . Taste is rather sharp , yet round . Some coffee-bitternes ( malts ) over very dark ,pure chocolate. Bitterness lingers , but never gets extreme . Less sweet than expected . mouthfeel is very nice ( typical american lower carbo which I love ) . Very nice and balanced imperial stout, yet nothing that blows my mind . Why this is more famous than other stouts ? I have no clue ... Price/quality aspect I guess, but its one of many very nice imperial stouts and it has no real unique characters to me .

Nitro draft. Very nice burnt malt and chocolate on the nose. Nice black color with creamy off white head from the nitro. To taste, more malty flavors throughout, fantastic stout. Lingers nice on the palate.
