rkuhnel (1102), Eureka, California, USA Jul 17, 2006 Updated: Dec 27, 2006 Holy Cow! Where has this one been hiding. Poured nearly black with a huge light brown head that you could eat with a spoon. You could search the world for great Imperial Stouts and this one is made right here in my backyard in Northern California. Massive nose of roasted malts, chocolate, yeasts and fruit, among others. Flavor is all of the above with hops now showing up. Mouthfeel is like a rich syrup, and you can sense the alcohol. Down the pipe it is good to the very last drop and never bitter. This is the standard all other Imperial Stouts should aspire to measure up to. Not just, good, but great. Update: I wondered if this would be better if it warmed up some.. Conclusion. No difference. Warm or cold, this stuff is incredible.
s01gs (5), Göteborg, Sweden does not count Sep 5, 2008 Nice light brown head. Brown sugar is the dominant bouqet. Flavour is as expected: Coffee, chocolate, sligthly bitter with a noticable alcohol taste that spoils the beer experience to some extent More interesting than good. lithy (149), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pitch black pour with a healthy smooth finger of milk chocolate head. Roasty chocolate aroma with some alcohol present. Smooth roastiness transitions effortlessly into hop and chocolate bitterness with a lingering roasted finish. mirjukka (379), LOHJA, Finland Sep 5, 2008 bottle 355ml 7,5e at Gallow’s Bird Espoo
