COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Draft at Tap House in Seattle. Overall, this is probably the best stout I’ve had. Pours with a deep black color with some dark red hues. The medium-sized beige head is super dense, producing lacing that covers the walls of the glass far past the final sip. The aroma is powerful: chocolate, espresso, somewhat smoked, without a hint of alcohol. The mouth feel is super creamy, with a taste that is heavenly: dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, a hint of vanilla perhaps. A must for any beer enthusiast.

A black beer, a head is big and beige. Aroma has coffee and rostiness, some pine and hint of sweetness of vanilla. Taste has coffee and quite strong roastiness, powerful bitterness, some riped fruitness and salt. Almost full bodied, strong carbonation but smoothly. This isn’t smooth dessert beer but more like harsh and straightforward. Tasteful beer.

Probada en Top Hops, Lower East Side, New York. Excelente Imperial Porter. Chocolate y café destacan sobre variadas frutas oscuras que dan un complejo y exquisito sabor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, cocoa, chocolate, liquorice, and coffee - with a roasted finish.

Pours a pitch black color, with a decent beige head, which collapses to a thick coating, especially at the edges of the glass. Smells of toffee coated, coca-cola infused malts, accompanied by honey and skunky milk. Reveals a toasted malts counterpart, giving the sticky sweetness a certain balance. Has a low carbonation with a soft mouthfeel and bubbly finish, offering a medium bodied beer, while ending with a warming honey peak. Tastes of toffee, balanced by bread, whichs sweet character gets accentuated by caramel dipped grain toast. Reveals phenolic, biting coffee, while the beers sweetness gets expanded by more caramel, somewhat balanced by the coffee’s bitterness. Finishes with earthy, crushed coffee, followed by a rock sugar ending, which still allowes the coffee to come through. Drinks smooth, while its taste varies between being sticky sweet and a bitter blend, commuting from coffee to grassy hops.

Pours jet black as it should for the style, tan head, quite strong carbonation it seems. Aroma tells me this is geared more towards the English approach than the sweeter American imperials, lot´s of dark bitter malts, some dark coffee and chocolate tones, dark fruits. Taste confirms my thoughts, very nice and balanced classic Russian imperial. The roasted tones are there as well as subtle elements of coffee and chocolate, but compared to for example the yeti this one lacks the slight sweetness found in that one. My new standard mark for a perfect traditional Russian imperial stout! Bottle from Saveur Biere.

Bottle from Beer Garden (Madrid). Average brownish head with low retention, leaving a thin layer. Very dark brown colour, black appearance. Aroma is dark dried fruits and chocolate. Taste is rich and complex, with brownie, chocolate, roasted malt, dried dark fruits, prune, biscuit and black coffee. No burnt wood nor charcoal flavour. It is really a great Imperial Stout.

Great imperial stout... Rich and flavorful without astringency or harsh alcohol notes. Dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, dark fruit, sweet alcohol. Flavor lingers. Nice balancing hop bitter and roast flavors. Great beer.

Pours black opaque with creamy stable, brown head. Aroma is one of the best parts: Divine note of Kona coffee, with hints of chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, but without any trace of an alcohol. Flavor: smooth taste of coffee with notes of chocolate, cocoa powder and vanilla. Malt sweetness is perfectly balanced with, typical for american style of imperial stouts, almost high hop bitterness. Body is soft and sticky, finish is dry, mouth-coating, carbonation is low. One of the best imperial stouts.

Huge tanned foamy head. Deep dark black. Smooth, silky, all the dark notes. Cigar, rhum-raisins, herbs and spicies. Rich, full bodied, strong. Meditative.
