Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Draft at Tap House in Seattle. Overall, this is probably the best stout I’ve had. Pours with a deep black color with some dark red hues. The medium-sized beige head is super dense, producing lacing that covers the walls of the glass far past the final sip. The aroma is powerful: chocolate, espresso, somewhat smoked, without a hint of alcohol. The mouth feel is super creamy, with a taste that is heavenly: dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, a hint of vanilla perhaps. A must for any beer enthusiast.

Aroma: Sweet, bitter, dark chocolate with hints of licorice and alcohol Appearance: Pours rich black with enormous head that settles into a nice, tan finger of frothy luxury Taste: Medium sweetness up front giving way to a lightly bitter aftertaste Palate: Light bodied with a thin oily texture, finishing with a long bitter finale. Overall: A very good imperial stout

Uhh.. great sipping brew.. Should grab some for long evenings. Heavy roasted rich maltiness, loads of hq dark choco, hq coffee, some licorice. Thick and creamy. Moderate to light sweetness with moderate bitterness. Complex and very enjoyable brew. Outstanding balance.

Solid black pour, coffee colored head. Nose is coco, burnt sugar, and a hint of booze. Bitter. Middle is coffee, alcohol, and a hint of sweet cream. Finish is bitter (grain/hops/alcohol) and long. Sipper for sure.

Outstanding brew, rich coffee character, brown sugar, lovely roasted and smoky notes, gentle bourbon bite. As close as it gets to perfection for an imperial stout.

Pitch black beer with one way flavor- heavily roasted malts, even notes of burnt malt with just light hops character left behind. Sharp but as I like bitter from anything, it is drinkable to me. Although difficult to be enjoyable.

Lots of roast, not as silky smooth as other imperials that I really enjoy. The malt is dominate with lots of roast, the hops are light as expected. Like a strong coffee, it’s intense, and delicious.
