Poured from a bottle. Almost black with a thick tan head. Strong coffee and chocolate aromas with a hint of citrus that makes this a bit different from other similar beers. Starts bright and almost refreshing, then the alcohol kicks in and is followed by a very bitter but pleasant finish. Excellent beer.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Good Looking beer that pours black with a generous tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and booze... Taste has a lot of coffee notes, malty, some cocoa and alcohol; it is perhaps very well balanced and smother than what the aroma would lead you to think. Overall a very nice beer, a slow drinker but very enjoyable.

Great color. Minimal head. Coffee beans, vanilla, earthy hops, anise. Great RIS, a bit thinner than expected. Long roasty, hoppy finish!

On Nitro tap at Chuck's. Amazing this way. Even more smooth and delicious than from bottle. Such a killer stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the best stouts ever, with a wide availability, a great example of the style to introduce your old man to. Fruity, toffee, malty, boozy, etc.

Pours thick dark brown with two-fingers of tan head. Smells of roasted malts and sweet caramels. Tastes rich, with cocoa, coffee, caramel, roasted malts and light bitter. Nice finish with a light coffee bitter on the tongue. Delicious beer.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a half finger of light brown head. Aroma is heavily roasted, dark malt, dark chocolate, mildly burnt, mild tobacco. Flavor is strong roasted malt, dark malt, chocolate, mildly bitter, with somewhat noticeable alcohol. Hints of smokiness as it warms, alcohol and chocolate also become more noticeable. Moderate carbonation and medium-full body. Rich, roasted, an excellent imperial stout.

2013 bottle drank in 2013: Pours a deep black-brown with a khaki colored head that billows out the top of the glass with a vigorous pour. The aroma is malty and roasty. There is some chocolate in the aroma. The taste is complex with a smoky aftertaste. Very well done RIS. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This beer is by far the best stout I have tried. It has a great taste with a strong but enjoyable alcoholic finish. Must try if you are into stouts but wish some had a more complex taste.

Bottle. Near black with a beige head. Deep malt, some vanilla and mineral aromas. Big malt and chocolate and coffee flavors. Astringent. FYI - Pairs well with a caramel filled drumstick.
