Flavor is nutty and malty with a vinous feeling. Vanilla and cream notes. Also hoppy and with a nice bitterness in the finish. Defineatly one of the best beers I have tried. rickgordon (3358), Göteborg, Sweden

Deep dark brown. Vineous, fruity nose with notes of cocoa. Flavour is big malty, starts off fruity, then finishes with a big but balanced bitterness. Cocoa is very evident all along. Low alhpa hops in large quantities. Very quaffable. ratman197 (3276), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Pretty much the same as below except this time I found the alcohol completely hidden and the bitterness just right. An excellent Impy Stout.

Bottle.Pours black with a small diminishing brown head. The lack of head was dissapointing. Very nice aroma of hops, chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel and fruit. Flavour was surprisingly hoppy along with spices, caramel, roasted malts, chocolate and alcohol. I had to knock a few points off the palate and the overall as the hops made it very bitter and the alcohol was too predominant. Perhaps aged it would be smoother. Really good but not excellent. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2005 Pours deep black with a fizzy brown head that mostly dissipates within minutes. Falling lacing. Complex malted barley aroma with an alcohol caramelness to it. The dark chocolate flavor is somewhat hidden by a caramelized faint alcohol sweetness. Excellent served just above cellar temperature. A tad spicy and fizzy full-bodied palate.
