COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Kind of tasted like molasses, but I’m glad I tried it. At least I got it off my wish list.

ON NITRO - a little less bold than the bottle version. Taste amazing, silky coffee with a substantial bitterness. A favorite of mine.

Beautifully smooth with a bitter crisp finish. Creates a dryness that promotes drinkability.

Going to agree with others here -- Aroma: coffee, caramel. Taste: coffee, chocolate, caramel, malts and licorice (which I despise). Very great balance, oily mouthfeel. Great quality beer however. I found it quite strong for my taste and somewhat bitter. I couldn’t drink much of this but it is "Russian". Awesome brew nonetheless.

Transfer from BA review on 9-17-12- Poured from bottle into snifter Appearance – Pours a pitch black brew with a one finger mocha colored head. The head fades relatively fast to leave a persistent film on the top of the brew and some light lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell – A wonderful aroma of chocolate, dark fruits of prune and raisin and a good roasted malt are the base of the smell. Mixed with these heavy and delicious aromas are some lighter coffee and a warming alcohol aroma. Quite nice. Taste – The taste begins heavy of roasted malt, some semi-sweet cocoa, and a lighter dark fruit flavors. As the taste advances flavors of coffee begin working their way into the taste. As this occurs the sweetness fades and the flavor of the beer bitters more. At the end of the taste, the roasted flavor gets even stronger and are matched by a now bitter dark chocolate flavor and some hop flavors. When these flavors mix with a nice presence of alcohol flavor, it creates a nice bitter, roasty, and warming feel on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thick and creamy with some chewiness. The carbonation level is on the just below average side. The thick and creamy body is fantastic for all the dark flavors and when combined with the alcohol taste, it creates a smooth warming feel on the tongue. Overall – This is on fantastic brew. Its one I have had many times and will continue to go back to. Overall nicely roasty with good flavor transitions, a great smell and feel as well as a pleasant warming feel.

Ganska god. Snygg färg och fint skum. En helt okej eftersmak som sitter i lagom lönge ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
