COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2012 9/25/2012 - For me, the perfect beer on tap. Not so much out of the bottle (4.5 ./ 5). 12/1/2012 - Pours from the bottle jet black with tan head. No visible carbonization. Good hops bitterness. Quite tasty. Good medium body. I’ve had this on tap and it’s incredible.

Big, bold stout with lots of coffee and other roasted notes. While the 9% alcohol only shows slightly, this is anything but smooth. Great stuff.

Pours pitch black with a magnificent head. Lacing and retention are also outstanding. The nose is sweet dark chocolate, roast and hints of dark fruit and smoke. Almost full bodied with a very smooth, almost creamy, texture. Borderline normal carbonation level with just a touch of effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is well balanced and a bit complex, but not as complex as FIS or Wulver. It begins with sweet dark chocolate which flows into a roast and hop bitterness. The middle has a molasses note. The finish is smooth and leaves you with an alcoholic burn at the back of the throat that lingers quite long. Less hops would allow the dark fruit flavor to materialize and add to complexity.

Bottle from Bev. Rich, thick, dark apperance. Syrupy mouth feel, like a desert in a glass. Alcohol is apparent but well mellowed.

Pours jet black with minimal head into a snifter. Smoky aromas with chocolate and coffee undertones. A smooth taste for 9%abv. Taste the dark roasted malt flavor. A great stout. My go to stout in fact

Keg at the bat. Black, creamy light tan head. Ethiopian coffee beans (?!), bitter chocolate nose. Sweetish middle with fruity bitterness throughout. Lots going on, can see why it gets raves.
