Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

This is s great beer. Aroma had good coffee, roasted, with hint of alcohol and chocolate. The taste buds love this beer all the way across. I’m not a huge stout fan, but this is a really good beer.

Aromat jest intensywnie kawowy i palony, ale nuta ciemnych owoców też jest obecna. Kremowe ciało to moc ziarna kawy i kakao, pełnia sosnowego lasu, lekka wanilia i suszone owoce. Piwo jest nisko wysycone i lepkie. 9% alkoholu ładnie rozgrzewa, ale w smaku pozostaje dobrze ukryte. Świetne piwo w dobrej cenie.

I bought this bottle at Madrid, cervezorama shop. I drank it in my hotel tonight, relax on holidays. This beer, eating spanish ham, is just the paradise on the earth, wonderful. The body is a beautiful dark/brown color, persistent foam but thin. The taste is what you could expect of an imperial stout: roasted malt, coffee, cacao, hop, vanilla, final of licor, chocolate, there is a side sweet. The carbonation is average for the style, well balanced.

Kolor: bardzo ciemny brunatny, klarowny.
Piana: obfita, drobnopęcherzykowa, ojawiają się większe pęcherzyki, ale jest trwała.
Zapach: sporo aromatów ciemnych i palonych słodów, gorzkiej czekolady, kakao, pralin czekoladowych, kawy, subtelny alkohol.
Smak: gładkie, lekko oleiste, również sporo nut ciemnych słodów, kakao, kawy, gorzkiej czekolady, lekka słodycz skontrowana wyraźną goryczką o lekko palonych charakterze, przyjemne rozgrzewania od alkoholu.
Wysycenie: średnie, lekko w kierunku wysokiego.

Bottled from some beer store in Buffalo, NY, for 3.29 plus tax. Black body, huge brown head. Aroma of strong malts, almost like a malt liquor. The taste is coffee, strong licorice but a but too much alcohol and not velvety enough. Njah. It’s just an average russian imperial stout.

Tap. A: Pure black with a foamy mocha head. N: Cocoa, coffee, earth, oak, peppercorn, touch of pine, smoke and burned logs. Toasted biscuit and roasted malt. T: Quite bitter and sweet. M: Medium body, creamy carbonation, no alcohol. O: So good. Amazing that barrel aging ruins it. Lots of Narwhal here.

Appearance is pitch black, no light escaping at all, a light brown foamy head which leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma- chocolate, vanilla, espresso coffee, leather, burnt dark malt, freshly laid tarmac, Christmas pudding, boozy dark fruit. Taste- roast dark malt, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel, rich coffee/fruitcake, burnt toast, dry ashy roast, vanilla, bitter chocolatey finish. More chocolate, fudge and caramel emerge as it warms. Mouthfeel is full and rich, with a lengthy, chewy finish. Excellent stout.

Bra men lite ospännande ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

commonmac (1060) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 28, 2016
UPDATED: SEP 28, 2016 Tap at Cityworks before the Leon Bridges show. Snifter glass. Deep black with tan, nearly full finger head. Nose is chocolate and dark fruit like a chocolate covered raisin. Taste hits you with a strong dark chocolate bitterness. There?s a dark fruit tartness that plays a role throughout the middle of the sip. End feels like a boozy, smoky, chocolatey celebration. This one lingers for a long time making sure you realize you just consumed an imperial stout. The predominant bitterness takes away a little bit from the enjoyment. Mouthfeel is actually thinner than you would expect. This is tasty but falls short of the upper echelon of Russian imperial stouts.
