Awsome beer, near perfection in my opinion for it’s style. great color, and an even better aroma. The flavor is great, licorice, smokey flavors, a nice coffee and toffee combo in there as well, and my favorite part in this one...that nice hoppy bang that it gives you just before the alcohol warms you. Outstanding beer in my book.

Sep 6, 2008 I’ve had this a few times before, and each time I’m impressed. Huge aroma, big thick mouthfeel, and big, chocolately, coffee and tobacco flavor. One of the best regularly available examples of one of my favorite styles.

Sep 6, 2008 Bottle poured into a snifter. Poured a dark black with a one finger creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and brown sugar. Flavor of bitter coffee, bittersweet chocolate and roasted malt with a little warming alcohol on the end. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Good but not great impy.

does not count  Sep 5, 2008 Nice light brown head. Brown sugar is the dominant bouqet. Flavour is as expected: Coffee, chocolate, sligthly bitter with a noticable alcohol taste that spoils the beer experience to some extent More interesting than good.

Sep 5, 2008 Pitch black pour with a healthy smooth finger of milk chocolate head. Roasty chocolate aroma with some alcohol present. Smooth roastiness transitions effortlessly into hop and chocolate bitterness with a lingering roasted finish.
