4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Opaque. Thick viscous used motor oil fresh from the pan. Burnt coffee blindsides you upon the first sip. This is followed by more java, dark chocolate... charred grains. Hints of licorice, carmel, oats-- this is not for guzzlin’. There is so much velvet on the palate that it would make the velveteen rabbit blush. Rasputin was said to have a silver tongue and this my friends is possibly the only beer he could taste. Huge taste, aroma, mouthfeel. I would recommend this to the serious beer drinker only.

355ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow:
This one was definitely a very nice imperial stout from North Coast but at the same time it wasn’t one that managed to blow me away or indeed to live up to the heights of some of the other American brewed imperial stouts that I’ve tried over the last few months. The beer was highly drinkable despite the strength, although some alcohol was noticeable throughout; an enjoyable beer but just not my favourite of the style.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is the most aromatic beer I have sniffed in some time. The aroma absolutely explodes with dark rich malts, alcohol, and a light funk. The body is heavy and the taste is thick with roasty malt and coffee. The finish brings out elements of dried fruit like raisins or prunes. The beer hides its alcohol well and is smooth on the finish. There is a proper bitterness. Overall, a fantastic brew.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Probably the best imperial stout I’ve tried. Very nice smokey, roasted feeling to it. Smell is great makes you want it right from the pour. Over all a wonderful beer. I had this from a bottle.

Nitro on tap at Rosamunde Sausage Grill, Brooklyn. Pours black with medium creamy dense brownish head. Roasted malts, chocolate, hops in aroma. Chocolate and roasted malts in flavor, medium sweetness, bitterish coffee finish. Quite drinkable for style and abv. Very good.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Really well made imperial stout that is a real delight to drink. Could have had some more roasted tones to it, but still very very good.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein tiefschwarzes Imperial Stout, es hat eine schöne cremige bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, leicht alkoholisch, Kaffee, Vanille. Geschmack intensiv schokoladig, alkoholisch, Vanillle, etwas Kaffee, klasse!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft with nitro into a tulip. Rich tan creamy head with ample lacing. Toasty malt aromas. Creamy mouth feel, with toasty, mocha palate, ending in a roasted chocolate bitterness. Alcohol shows itself as the beer warms, and it packs a punch. I can see the appeal, but too strong for me.
