I tried this beer due to the incredibly high rating it got here. While the beer is okay for a stout, it is simply too bitter to me. Strong coffee, smoke notes makes it come across like it was burnt for me.

A black beer with a large tan head. The aroma is roasted malts with a little dark chocolate. The flavor is the same with some black licorice too.

Jet black. Tan head. Coffee and chocolate nose. Flavor is very meaty. Coffee finish. Some dark chocolate. Smoke. Ash. Really good. Thick and viscous. Sugar coats your lips. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass deep black, nice small head. Heavy malty aroma. Starts intense malty, oily, earthy notes, hints of liquorice. Not too dry. Also hints of bitter chocolate. Finish well balanced, not alcoholic, warming-malty. A great beer!

Tulip glass. Mild odor of chocolate and malts. Beautiful beer, black as night with thick cottony head. Great creamy, hearty mouth feel. Excellent tasting, the coffee and chocolate balance this or nicely.

12 FL. OZ. bottle. Deep dark hueless brown, big foamy mocha head settles and rings. Pungent aroma of dark chocolate and burnt dark malt, a whiff of dark fruit. Sweet bitter smooth chocolate, robust dark roast, bitter coffee bean. Average carbonation, full bodied, moderately hopped. Intense and powerful yet ABV mostly hidden. Definitely a meal, and: DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

The stoutest stout you will ever drink. Awesomely dark, intensely flavorful. All around fantastic.

Classic. Top notch stuff. Smooth. This would be the first thing that pops in my head if we were playing a word association game and you said "Russian imperial stout."

4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tan thick head. Very subtle roast aroma. Medium heavy body. Not too viscous. Extremely dark beer. Can't see any light through it. A little too much carb. Roasty chocolatey flavor.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a deep blackish brown with a creamy head. Loads of lacing in the glass. Big aroma of coffee and chocolate. The taste is spot-on the same, with some dark fruit joining in. Nice bit of bitterness on the finish. Nice thick, oily mouth. This is everything a stout should be, and one of my favorites.
