Dark black in color with nice tan head.... Aroma of dark chocolate and fresh roasted coffee... Flavor is chocolates, prunes, coffee, and brown sugar fused into a malt heaven... Delicious beer...

bottle courtesy of kenb, thanks! always good stuff, but after drinking so much of the xii, this just doesn’t quite cut it upon revisit. the body is a lot thinner than the ba version, and seems like a soda-iash carbonation. the flavor and balance are good, but im gonna stick with the xii from here on out.

On tap @ Coles, Buffalo NY. Cant believe I havnt rated this yet. Dark dark black pour with slight tan head. Expected more intense roasted malt aroma than Im gathering. Taste is heavily roasty, light bitterness, pretty mild consiering 9%. Very drinkable but its lacking the complexity I thought that was going to be there

Tap at Barcade. Yeah, this is fantastic stuff. Rich, powerful nose of roasted malts and dark fruits. Flavor is sweet yet muted, with a nice mix of roastiness and fruity notes. Smooth and thick, this full-bodied beer is a joy to drink.

12 oz bottle that I’ve been sitting on for about six months. The color was dark black with a decent tan head. Smell was a little roasty. The taste was good with some roastiness also. The mouth-feel was not great as the beer seemed a little thin. I was planning on aging some of this but I am not sure it is worth it. Good RIS but not my favorite. Black body with a brown foamy ring at the glass rim. Fair lacing. Aroma of coffee, burnt malts. Some of the acidity that other imp.stouts (like Nøgne Ø) give off to the nose. Flavor is alcoholic, roasted malts, coffee and raw liqorice (un-sweetened). Feels milky (almost oily) in the mouth, and the finish is alcoholic. Recommended!

Bottle. Pours a dark black, not oil thick but black, slight dark tan head. Flavors are intense, lots of roasted malt and burnt flavor. Finish is very strong, lots of bitter flavor and it is warming. Very well balanced, yet complex. Definitely a very good imperial stout.
