4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 20, 2012On on Nitro at Wild Monk. Served in a snifter.
A: Pours a jet black color with a perfectly smooth and creamy tan head. The head sticks around for the entire time and leaves huge sticky sheets of lace. Just a beautiful looking beer.
S: Nice and robust roasted malts. There is some bitter bakers chocolate in there with a little bit of fudge.
T: The taste follows the nose but is a tad more complex. Nice roasted malts and bitter bakers chocolate up front. Sweet dark fruits are more present in the taste, almost like a caramel glazed prune. As the beer warms it gets a little sweet with some milk chocolate presents itself in the finish.
M: Medium bodied with a little chew. Nice creamy mouthfeel with a medium carbonation level.
O: Very great balance of roast, chocolate and sweetness. Having it on nitro gives it a creamier mouthfeel and a must try for an Rasputin fan.
Serving type: nitro-tap

Sample at Alla Spina and several bottles through the years. Pours black with thick, fluffy, mocha head and protruding rings of lace. Nose of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, figs. Full bodied and still delicious after all these years.
4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 Fatehunter (795) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JUN 19, 2013
Poured a finger of tan head on a pitch black body.
The aroma is full of molasses with a little burnt wood and caramel. Wonderful.
The taste is incredible. Lots of burnt malt and molasses but nicely balanced, which makes it almost too easy to drink.
The texture is thick with low to moderate carbonation.
Heaven in your mouth.

Bottle @ The Rover. Served way too cold. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of juniper berries, milk chocolate, roasted malt, wood. Taste of caramel, chocolate, licorice. Just a little bit sweet, ends with a long aftertaste of bitterness.

Large toasted brown head when poured, coffee aromas and taste, just the right amount of carbonation, pleasant lingering aftertaste

Big (4fingers) tan head on a lovely dark brew. Aroma of wheat alcohol and darkness. Tastes of soy sauce, raisins, bitter coffee, and booze. A bit sweet-sticky mouthfeel. Low carb. A great beer to sip slowly while contemplating nuclear fusion.

Not a favorite. A bit too rich and too much bite. I like stouts a little sweeter and smokier.

Top notch and never disappointing. Roasted malts and coffee aroma with a lot more going on. Very dark color with a great off-white head. Creamy palate with good weight and just enough carbonation that doesn’t distract. A swarm of flavors hit you at first sip. Roasted malts, toffee and coffee. Great to have at the end of the day.

Classic imperial stout. Pours jet black. Smells like chocolate and coffee. Taste is the same, adding malts and maybe some toffee. You can taste the alcohol, this is a strong one. Very intense.
