Produced in the tradition of 18th Century English brewers who supplied the court of Russia’s Catherine the Great, Old Rasputin seems to develop a cult following wherever it goes. It’s a rich, intense brew with big complex flavors and a warming finish.

The Old Rasputin brand image is a drawing of Rasputin with a phrase in Russian encircling it—A sincere friend is not born instantly.

Rated world class and I'm sure it is but RIS is not my favorite style. Prefer straight up stouts and porters. Too much dark fruit and tobacco for my liking. If you love RIS you will likely love this but I will avoid this category from now on. Prefer chocolate and vanilla forward stouts. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 355ml. Dark with an everlasting head. Coffe & chocolate with a hint of vanilla aroma. Warm mouth with a surprising bitterness. Long lasting roasty bitter end. [07/2016]

Super dark chocolate with a bitter finish. The head is everlasting with a tan colour. You can definitely smell the alcohol on the nose. In the end it is a great beer, try it once and try it again.

Miam.

Piwo klarowne w kolorze czarnym z imponujaca bezowa piana. W aromacie gorzka czekolada i kawa. W smaku czekoladki z likierem, kwaskowa kawa i lekkie nuty palone. Czuc tez troche jakby suszone czerwone owoce. Polslodkie ze srednia goryczka. Na finiszu popiolowosc i tyton jak w popielniczce. Wysycenie na niskim poziomie, gladkie i aksamitne w odbiorze. Wiecej sie dzieje w smaku niz w aromacie.

Warka 01/18/2016. Aromat likierowy, całkiem przyjemny ale mało intensywny. Jest tu trochę kawy, trochę więcej gorzkiej czekolady i niemało razowej kwaśności. W smaku półsłodkie do słodkiego, popiołowe. Ostre jak jego patron, rozgrzewające jak gorzałka chociaż samo piwo specjalnie nie trąci alkoholem. Bardzo dobre piwo.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2016 Bottle at home. Pours pitch black, beige creamy head. Complex (!) roasted malty espresso, mocha and chocolate, some sweet dried and red fruits, light bitter leather and charcoal, boozy heath, finishes well balanced bitter. Lingering roasted aftertaste. Good body, medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Not your average IRS, well executed.

12oz bottle at home - pours black with a beautiful full tan head - smells of roasted malts and cocoa with some coffee notes - tastes deep and rich - nice flavor in the aftertaste.
