4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2004. I am officially an over rater. Sorry. Never trust me. First off this brew is 11.4 percent. How could it be bad? When you open the bottle it smells like you just walked into an old travelling medicine show from the wild west. Room and nostrils fils with the cakey sweet aroma of cough syrup, prunes and sweet sweet lovin’!!! Pour. Comes out like it was medicine for Ebola. Thick and runny on the glass. ZERO HEAD!!!! Which with a beer like this means no pretensions...she’s an honest gal. As I stab it with my nose I am overwhelmed with lust for this brew. I can smell the thickness. Press it to my mouth and my pants go crazy. Tatses of plums and raisins. Nyquil and vodka. Ohh I love you old stock. Tell me what to do and I as your slave will do it. Aftertaste lingers like feelings for your ex. Great brew...deep rich and not for the faint of heart.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Russet coloured with a complex aroma of toffee, butterscotch, vanilla and alcohol. Very sweet taste and lots of alcohol, quite a lot of balancing bitterness with some leathery caramel notes but too much tongue-burning alcohol and a strange flabby caramel sweetness. If this was 8% it would be very good indeed, but there’s just too much alcohol for the beer to carry it off. (Bottle from Alex Hall, NYC)

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Deep amber clear with a small short lasting beige head. Deep burnt caramel and roast malt aroma with faint alcohol coming through as it warms. Smooth luscious body. Medium sweetness roast malt with a hint of smoked character at the start. Softer sweeter middle and finish with hop bitternes lingering nicely into the aftertaste. Alcohol extremely well masked.

Brown in colour with a medium sized lingering head. Nose is alcohol, anise and candied fruit. Flavour is same only more bitter than expected with a slightly metallic character to the finish. Quite good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark amber with a medium brown head that is medium lasting. The nose is sweet but some lager funk in the nose. The taste is very rusty up front and very malty. So sweet and great, however the rust is too much for me. finish is acidic and metallic.
