Commercial Description:
As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.’s commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. It’s brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so it’s a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

Bottled 355ml. 2008 vintage. Beautiful ruby brown with a small lacing creamy beige head. Aroma of sherry, cherry, faint fennel, tobacco (very strong), oak, walnut, a lot of raspberries, cognac, papaya, salt, strawberries, caramel and faint chlorine and acetone .. Sweet complex taste with a raspberry component being rather present. Full bodied, sticky, nutty. Warming on the swallow. Long, slightly salty finish which is reminiscent of caramel, fennel, tobacco, raspberry and oak. Deeply complex.

Delicious, brown color, murky, alcohol tingles the tongue. Oxidation is present but so is a very awesome brandy flavor. I swear I tasted cognac! Good stuff but watch out cause it can really kick your ass.

Consumed many times including a flight of 2001, 05, 06, and 08. All consumptions of this beer have been in great view of the West Coast BW. The 06 vintage being particularly fancy in it’s over the top ABV. Fantastic regular brew from NC.
