hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 4, 2009 2007 Bottle. Dark orange colour. Alcohol and syrup in aroma. Taste of vegtables, creme brûlée, orange, and roasted malt. jeremytoni (1069), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Sep 30, 2009 From a 2009 bottle poured brown with a small head. Syrupy head malty flavor with a lasting finish. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2009 Smells of licorice, medicine, and burnt rubber. Tastes flabby. I love barley wines, but not this one. I’ve had several bottles of this and have never been impressed. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Sep 28, 2009 Pours a deep amber with tan head. Aroma is very medicinal with hints of malt, fruit, booze. Similar taste, some hops present. Dry, warm finish. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2009 Sampled at another monday night football tasting over at scottyp’s. Sampled blind with 6 others. All poured a clear amber red. This one was in the bottom of the pack. Artificial cherry cough syrup aroma. Flavor is also medicinal and fake. Way overrated imo. ghawener (952), San Salvador, El Salvador Sep 24, 2009 Bottle: Drank with ramenen. Thick and heavy, potent full bodied brew. Food Pairing: Game. Joakgust (320), Stockholm, Sweden Sep 23, 2009 Bottle, 355 ml - Brown amber beer with a small head. Aroma is malty with notes of marzipan, butter, nuts, arrak and oak. Flavor is fruity with notes of grain, nuts and dried fruits. Full bodied and very balanced. Excellent ale, but not a perfect barley wine.
