COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.’s commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. It’s brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so it’s a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

This beer was great. Aged two years, the sweetness of dark fruits (plums or raisins?) really came through. It was smooth and bourbon-like in flavor, and just a great beer in general.

Taste Vintage 2009 on August 2014. Sweet and malty aroma with hints of nutmeg and spices. Pours a medium cloudy brown color with a moderate head. Goes down smoothly expanding on the sweet aroma with an almost bourbon flavor. Just enough carbonation without being too strong. Full body with strong flavor. One of the better beers I’ve had.

Bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours a murky reddish brown. Off white head. Smells of caramel, butterscotch, malts, some alcohol. Tastes similar. Moderately sweet followed by a moderate bitterness. Medium bodied; average carbonation; lasting, lightly bitter finish.

33cl bottle served in a snifter. Clear dark tan colour with a few bubbles but certainly not enough to constitute a head. Aroma is just sweet shop sweetness - caramel, toffee, sugary sweetness. If ever there was a beer to submit you into a diabetic coma this would be it. Flat taste profile with just varying levels of sweetness offered. Very disappointing as I am a massive fan of Rasputin from the same brewery and thought I would give this a shot. I ended up giving over half of it away. Disappointing.

Pours muddy brown and smells like dark berries and rich malts. Tastes rich and sweet, with caramel, plums and even some coffee on the tongue. Quite a complex and high octane beer.

2011 bottle from own cellar. Deep clear red brown color. Beautiful. Fizzy head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is rich berries, raspberry, lingonberry, caramel, sweet plums. Nice sweet and complex. Taste: berries, candy, caramel, malty, thick mouthfeel with some alcohol there. Very nice!

Bottle pour murky orange brown with rapidly dissipating head. Nose dates, raisin, caramel, sweeter character. Taste again, raisin, caramel, slight minerality. Late palate light alcohol. Light spice and caramel again in the aftertaste.

2013 bottle split with Dave during an episode of GoT. Malt foward, not too sweet, stout influence definitely there. Nice.
