Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 8, 2004 [Vintage 2002] A red beer with no head. Both the flavor and aroma is sweet and dominated by cowberries. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Jan 3, 2002 Mahogny coloured. Big malty beer. Sweet with dried fruit aroma. Very bitter. Very good. Papsoe (10459), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 6, 2005 Updated: Mar 6, 2006(Bottle 35,5 cl) Dark brown with a ruby-red hue. Nice ligh tbrown head that collapses rather quickly though. Clear and filtered. Dry, vinous nose. Complex, full notes of dried fruit and an oaky, wooden touch. Some sweetness with a dry, bitter finish - but far from the extreme. Incredibly solid and chewy beer - the kind you can enjoy sip by sip for hours almost. A lovely Barley Wine. 060605 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Sep 3, 2001 Dark amber, with little head and a mild carbonation; Aroma like cognac, although a few of us were tasting this and arguing over which kind of spirit we were smelling. Smooth palate, as the malts wash over you. I’ve never had a beer this big with Maris Otter before. Warming, complex and delicious. A fireside ale. yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Apr 18, 2008 12 fl oz bottle, 2004. Pours slight cloudy deep amber/light brown with a diminished off-white head. Solid overripe and dried fruit aroma, into wineous notes. Liqourice like flavoured with a solid caramel malt base. Growing bitterness into the finish. Very smooth fruity note lingering inbetween the fullbodied brew. Nicely balanced and smooth into the finish with an intense and slowly declining flavour.
