4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is for the 2010 vintage. Pours a lovely ruby shade, with a small amount of dense light tan foam. Aroma is sweet and malty, caramel and some fruit (raisins, dates, figs), very inviting. Taste is very malty, with a noticeable alcohol burn partway through, more fruit like dates and figs, and just a bit bitter on the finish. Great stuff, possibly the best barley wine Iíve had save perhaps for the 2006 Bigfoot.

2007 bottle. Careful with this one..... Itíll whip that ass if you aint ready for it.
Muddy, murky brown pour, not much to speak of in the way of a head. Definitely get a bourbon aroma from this one with some malt as well.
Man, this tastes like whiskey. Very strong oaky taste to this along with some sweetness and malt. Finishes pretty hot but thatís to be expected for a 2007. Very warming drink here. Got a few more bottles that Iím putting away for at least 2 more years. This needs aging because its going to be a damn smooth barleywine but its just not there yet.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear brown, slightly hazy towards the end of the pour. Complex nose with malt flavours surrendering to brandy and caramel. Fade to hops at the finish, which is quite clean.

4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
WOW! Second only to Fuller's 1999 in my opinion. Small but rich head, distinctive and strong aroma, very dark and almost black. Very malty taste, bitter but not to any extreme, Absolutely amazing brew.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. 2008 Vintage. Pours a dark ruby brown with a thin head. Aroma and flavor of dark fruit with an excellent, sweet malt profile. High alcohol content is well disguised. Very delicious overall.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
I was unimpressed by this. Perhaps I just wasnít in the mood for a barleywine, but it seemed to be little more than an attempt to cram as much malt as possible into a bottle. Dark brown, thick head. Aromas of malt, malt, and more malt. Bit of hops. Maybe some fruit. Taste is sweet, decently balanced with a bit of hop bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel. Decent, generic American barleywine. MIght benefit from aging; try older vintages (mine was only a year old).

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Ruby pour with thin tan head. Slightest caramel aroma - good but not very aromatic. Great taste with light, sweet body. Fuggles hops bring a british hop taste to the mix that is nothing short of fantastic

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2005 (2002 bottle sampled Christmas day 2005. Courtesy of AndrewM) Stunningly beautiful deep amber with an off white head. Aroma has very sweet malt with dark fruit jam and chocolate. Fruitier than the 2004 I recently had. Absolutely invigorating. Iíve just been sniffing this for the last 10 minutes. Slight alcohol presence. After 3 years, the hops have faded enough that the chocolate and deep, dark fruit come through very well on the tongue. Slight alcohol tinge, but just enough to accentuate the other flavors. Palate is soft. This is the best beer Iíve ever had. Good thing I have another one.
(2004 bottle courtesy of Odeed. 12/17/05) Fairly complex aroma...very fruity. Flavors of dark fruit jam. A little bit of toffee. Just enough alcohol bite to accent the other flavors nicely. As it warms the the aroma can be best described as a fruity sherry. There is something else that Iím trying to pinpoint. I think itís brown sugar (as described by fordest). Very nice brew. 3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2002 bottle: pours a cloudy deep auburn mahogany color with very little head. the aroma is of burnt caramel with some oaky red wine qualities. the flavor is also of burnt caramel and chocolate. has a sort of dry sherry like finish. i feel like the 2003 was a little better. but this is overall a nice and balanced beer.
