COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.ís commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. Itís brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so itís a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coastís Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

This is the commemorative release with proceeds going to tsunami relief for Ft Braggs sister city Otsuchi, Japan. Pours a rich clear red-brown in color. Thin head but persistent. Nice dark fruit flavors; raison, fig, date. Alcohol is evident on the finish. Drinks very much like a nice barleywine. This will be one of my favorite "big" beers.

2014 Edition. Pours a brown sugar color with a slight quickly diminishing light tan head. Smells like caramel and brandy. Definitely has some caramel malt and scotch booze taste. Thereís also raisin and plum flavors. Thinner than I would like. Gets better the longer it sits. I will let one sit for a while before opening again.

Sweet and malty aroma with hints of nutmeg and spices. Pours a medium cloudy brown color with a moderate head. Goes down smoothly expanding on the sweet aroma with an almost bourbon flavor. Just enough carbonation without being too strong. Full body with strong flavor. One of the better beers Iíve had.

12 fl. oz. bottle, 2014 vintage. Clear medium copper, vanishing off-white foam. Aroma is syrupy, sweet caramel, vanilla, boozy. Fairly intense, woody vanilla barrel flavor, quite sweet, caramel, malty, port-ish. Softer carbonation, full bodied, moderately hopped. Lasted almost 3 periods. DNFL (Definitely Not For Lagerboys)

2014 vintage. Pours a dark amber color with a small head. Aroma of dark fruit, maltand spice. Taste of dark fruit, raisons, bit of malt and hops in the background. Mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, smooth, with a rich flavor, very well balanced and just a bit of the 11.8% ABV peaking through. Will try this again after it matures a bit.

2013 bottle. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a decent forty-five seconds. A nice trickling yet speckled lacing clung but ended up sliding into the beer. The smell had a nice sweet to malty cinnamon and raisinous sticky slightly maple-esque conglomeration. The taste, for the most part copied the smell and added a nice coating of a sticky sweet cinnamon and maple and a nice dark fruit (sweet plums). The palate sat about a good medium on the body with a nice sessionability running under my tongue delicately yet smoo. Overall, did I have this at the absolute best time? Hot damn, this is super good! Wow at least to me.

2014 fresh. Pours a light brown red with finger of head. Nose is caramel, a bit hoppy, a bit of dark fruity sweetness. Taste is a robust malt profile, caramel, bread, brown sugar, dried dark fruit (maybe prune, raisin, apricot), still a minor hop presence balancing it, a scotch/whiskey note also on the finish. Full body.

Nutty, toffee aroma. Pours wonderfully with decent head and nice lacing. Flavor doesnít have the liquor bitterness, but it does warm you going down. Nice as an alternative to sipping liquor.

2013 Vingage: Aroma is beautiful, sweet, grapes, plums and toffee. I actually catch a hint of rum in there. The taste is sweet from dark fruits but also carries a small hint thats almost a bit sour, maybe grape-like sour. Vanilla passes by really quick. Then the warming booze sensation takes over, but its not disturbing, more like supporting. This one is great, maybe a little thin in the body

12 oz bottle. 2014 vintage. Pours a reddish brown with lots of bubble but no head. Aromas of raisins, copper, dry caramel, toasted malts and alcohol. Flavors of dried dark fruit (a little sour), old oak, malt extract, and a bit of nuts. Subtle bitter finish with noticeable heat. A good big beer.
