COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.’s commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. It’s brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so it’s a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

2012 bottle. Pour is deep ruby red with a smallish tan head. Aroma is toffee malt, dark fruits, maple, very faint spicy alcohol notes, and some hints of Brachs caramel. Flavor is loaded with fruity toffee malt up front with a fair amount of sweetness. As the flavor evolves, spicy peppery notes come though along with a touch of dry grain. Not a huge hop presence here. In my mind, this is an example of a clssic barleywine. If some asked me "hey, what’s barleywine like?", I would direct them to this beer

Raisin aroma and color. Some peanut brittle and an odd ripe to rotten strawberry flavor. No alcohol taste but you feel the burn down the pipe in the end. Slight sweetness and yeasty. Lots of sediment in there and I haven’t even had much of the bottle. 2013 vintage in bottle.

Bottled on 1/7/2014. Big caramel aroma; some candied orange and toffee as well. Taste is very caramel forward, followed by vanilla, toffee, light orange zest, and then bitter at the back of the tongue and booze burn when swallowing.

Versión 2015. Caoba rojizo limpio y espuma canela ligera. Aromas de frutas confitadas, mermelada de frutos rojos. Cuerpo denso y meloso. Sabor dulce de mermelada de inicio, con final de amargor seco y ligeramente astringente.

Bottle from Rudat in Dortmund. The beer has got a deep amber-vanilla colour with a small head and smooth body. Aroma of malt, hops, cake and rum. Taste of barley, mild hops, malt, caramel, nuts, ripe fruits, cake, rum and barrels. Smooth to drink, delicious brew.

Klasse.

No overwhelming flavor, nice and balanced on malt and flavor throughout. Very nice mouthfeel, creamy. No heat from the alcohol.

Great aroma. Sweet fruit after taste which seems hide the dryness you’d expect in a 12% beer. Really pleasant, really complex flavors. Very enjoyable.

Bottle from The Drinkery, Derry NH. Aroma is strong--could smell it from over a foot away! Smell is complex of malt, fruit, alcohol, yeast. Appearance is beautiful, clear, dark red amber with champagne-like sparkling. Mild, 1/2 finger width creamy off-white head with nice crackling sound from a distance. Pretty insignificant lacing. Taste is moderately sweet with fruity sense and only the mildest alcohol detected at the end (pretty well hidden 11.9%!). Palate is velvety creaminess, medium bodied with carbonation that gives it backbone until zippy kick at the tip of the tongue at the end. Finish is wet and moderately long fruitiness. Overall, there is soooooo much to like about this beer for all of the senses! Hard to find much fault.
