3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/202001 edition. Pours a sloppy pondwater brown...OK, wait a minute, lets call it cloudy reddish-brown, with no real head formation. Immediate fragrance is of chocolate cookies, wet concrete, yeast and molasses. Very malty, sweet and chocolatey. Smooth and mildly carbonated. Finish is good - hops noticeable but not overbearing. Big, nice brew - I can go either way with these English-style barley wines and strong ales but this one is real nice, I’ll try laying some down for another year, but I have a hunch it’s at its peak.

2012 release. Complex aroma and taste. A lot of caramel and raisins in the flavour. A little sweet. Some warming alcohol in the finish.

12oz bottle 2009 vintage pours a murky brown with a small khaki head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, apples, and figs. Taste has similar favors as aroma with musty alcohol overtones. Booze dominates.

This barley wine has some major kick to it. Very attractive dark copper color with next to no head. No lacing what so ever. Has alcohol burn with a general balance of flavor. Great beer if you need or want a very quick buzz.

Clear reddish brown with a beige ring. alcohol, honey, sweet and bitter aroma with some chocolate, tastes very sweet but also dry and slightly bitter. Medium-to-full body, syrupy, mildly carbonated with alcoholic finish. Nice.

bottle into glass, pours clear dark brown, with kacki head, first drink is prety powerfull, after you have a few its very enjoyable

2012 vintage - small foamy head, dark amber color, pretty balanced yet complex aroma and flavor with earthy hops and sweet malt, some alcohol notes come through, very good overall
