COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As a continuation of North Coast Brewing Co.’s commitment to quality, our Old Stock Ale is crafted in the tradition of our critically acclaimed Pranqster Belgian Style Golden Ale and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. It’s brewed with classic floor-malted Maris Otter Pale Malt and Fuggles Hops imported from England, so it’s a beer to be served proudly. Like a fine wine, North Coast’s Old Stock Ale is intended to be laid down. With an original gravity of over 1100 and a generous hopping rate, Old Stock Ale is well-designed to round-out and mellow with age. North Coast Brewing Co. Old Stock Ale is a vintage dated ale. We produce a small quantity each year and it remains available from release date until our stock is depleted.

Red. No head. Slightly roasted. Loads of warming alcohol in the finish. Spicey flavour. A bit to earthy and dirty.

fruity, piney aroma.Hazy amber color.Tan head that fades quickly.Full mouthfeel, kinda prickly on the tongue.Fruity flavors and alcohol evident. Finishes bitter but not overly.Think i will get some to lay down, i believe it would age fairly gracefully.

(Bottle, 2003 vintage) Pours a deep copper color with a small head. Has a aroma of maple syrup and alcohol. The flavor was alcohol dominant with hints of malt, brown sugar, caramel, and dark fruits.

2004 Vintage. - Deep amber colour. Aromatic nose, with notes of demerara sugar, chocolate and dates. Very smooth mouthfeel, but the taste does not keep the promises you get from the nose. Obviously beers like this tend to improve with further ageing, and i think it has some really great potential if left for another couple of years.........

Reviewed 2/7/2009 (2008 bottle): Pours a pretty clear brown reddish colored body, with small off-white head, diminishing quickly. Fruity, strawberry, aroma, some fizziness. Some malty nuttiness too. Not much hops or bitterness, just maltiness. Sweet taste, syrupy. Thick mouthfeel, some lightish carbonation. Very sweet fruity tasting, strawberry seeds, slight acidic and bitterness. Very strong taste, a slight hotness, but almost completely covered by the malts. Dark fruitiness, red grape, maybe plum. Better with food.

Fresh 2007 on tap. Pours a rich maroonish color with a small offwhite head. Smell is mainly alcohol and light maltiness with an almost faint skunkiness to it, somehow. Prickly, boozy mouthfeel, with flavors of alcohol, hops, and somewhat dry. Decent flavor and drinkable, but I can see this being a lot better with some age, and look forward to trying some older bottles.

2012 Bottle. Pours a clear deep ruby red with a small white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, brown sugar, touches of grape, alcohol and wood. Syrupy sweet caramel malt body with prune juice and very present alcohol. Finishes slightly dry and boozy. Maybe it gets better with time.
