john_adam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Apr 1, 2008 Courtesy of the therealbastard. This guy has no problem opening anything at anytime. Big aroma of bourbon. Sweet malt mixed with bourbon and vanilla flavors throughout. Finish was kind of harsh. Not bad for almost 15%.
jjpm74 (3110), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Oct 5, 2008 2005 vintage courtesy of Darkelf. Pours brown and virtually still. Smells of bourbon, oak, dark fruit, vanilla, spice, some warming alcohol. Tastes overly sweet with a subtle alcohol bite and some oaky character. robinvboyer (1052), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Sep 24, 2008 bottle from the cheese man! thanks!
Holy hell did this pour THICK!!! Cloudy brown and THICK, with next to no head. Aroma is very complex! THe 1st thing is bourbon, and some hard liquor alcohol. The oak and vanilla really come though, and there is some really nice sweet bornw sugar, and molasses. Flavour is ALL oak, and wood, it’s the 1st thing to hit you. Then comes the vanilla nuances, and some really nice sweet molasses. No hops to speak of, the finish is not bitter at all, it’s actually very sweet with a nice woody note, with a slow warm alcohol burn. Wow, one of the most complex beers i have ever had. So much fin to dissect, excellent stuff! Theis (2212), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2008 Bottle at Sune’s (T+M thanks Mikkel). Clear reddish - white head. Vanilla, bourbon, wood, berries, red berries, sweetness, tobacco, roasted, high malty. A bit thin body and finish. The_Epeeist (979), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 8, 2008 12.7 oz bottle. Deep brown with a thin, off-white ring. Nose is caramel and strong bourbon. Almost medium body with a slight carb sting. Taste is toffee, tobacco and bourbon. A brief maple vanilla sweetness is overwhelmed by the booze. Somewhat disappointing. Dedollewaitor (2165), Odense, Denmark Sep 6, 2008 37,5cl bottle. Thanks a lot chris. Pours rown with a small creamy fading head. Lovely aroma & taste of bourbon, vanilla & wood. Sweet, sticky, oily & balanced. Full bodied & warm. What a lovely sipper!
