Bottle at Naja’s Place. Pours clear amber with a medium size white head. Aroma is in your face bourbon, caramel, vanilla and more bourbon. Flavor is malty sweet, bourbon, oak, caramel and the finish is vanilla, toffee and warming bourbon. Incredible beer.

Shared 16.9 oz. bottle poured to snifters, displaying a hazed, amber color, with only a light layer of off white film, light spots of lacing, and a syrupy sheen on the glass when swirled. The nose was alcohol at the ready, dark fruit as plum & raisin, and barrel induced vanilla & coconut. The taste revealed the booziness of the bourbony alcohol, caramel sweetness, with moderate carbonation, in a medium+ body. A smooth & warming, benchmark brew to relax with.

Bottle, 2009. Pours cloudy hazel, minimal head, a touch of lacing. Aroma is rich vanilla bourbon toffee. Flavor is quite sweet, some oxidation but rich malty bourbon vanilla. Medium body, lightly acidic.

Amber pour, no head, looks flat. Very fizzy mouthfeel though. Watery as it warms. Nose and taste is candi sugar and light bourbon barrel.

Bottle to glass. 2013 vintage. Pours a medium nut brown with reddish hues and a light tan head. Aroma is big vanilla, light bourbon, molasses. Big vanilla in the flavor as well, with a solid malt backbone, molasses, gooey. Thick creamy body with a lingering vanilla and light bourbon character in the finish. Quite tasty!

This was pretty darn amazing. Easy to drink for a 14.1% beer, it has all of the great qualities of the traditional Old Stock, with a slightly mellower feel and a hint of the bourbon char as well. I wish it wasn’t so darn expensive, but that’s really the only knock. A great beer to sign off with for a little while.

Poured from newest vintage, I believe 2014, so is this unretired considering it’s on the shelf right now? Pours a murky brownish red with a thin head, the aroma has quite a bit of bourbon and vanilla with a strong amount of dark fruits and sweetness, the flavor has a nice bourbon front end with a finish of dark fruit and malt, nice.

Bottle, Vertical tasting with 2014 old stock, 2012 ostuchi, 2011 Brandy, 2009 Bourbon. All pour similar murky brown with the BA versions being fairly low carb. Aroma is dark fruits, light oak and bourbon, smooth booze and rich malts.

2009 vintage in ceramic grey bottle. Pours a murky brown with minimal white lacy head. Aroma of heavy bourbon vanilla sweetness. Taste is more balanced toward the malt, but still big bourbon notes. Little to no carbonation, sweet and boozy, but nice.

Vintage 2009 bottle purchased and poured at The Porter Bar in Atlanta on 11/23/14. Pours deep dark brown with no head at all. Beautiful aroma of vanilla, caramel, lots of smooth bourbon still present, oak, toffee, marshmallow. Flavor follows with a big bourbon punch that is very mellow, sweet brown sugar and caramel, vanilla marshmallow notes, a hint of chocolate, smooth oak. Wow this is good. Chewey body with low plus carbonation, coats the mouth. This was really nice and the bottle was clearly well-kept for the past few years. Just a really nice beer.
